Hey Schneed, I don't know how to post links, but your tribute to Gibbs made the Redskins Blog.

Not sure how to use the linkback feature. It just gives me the think to this thread.

EDIT: I found it, but I still don't know how to use linkback...

Smoot, could you or GMScud post the link? It's on Redskins Blog on The Official Site of The Washington Redskins. Thanks, I can't figure it out.

GREAT LETTER.

I keep hearing people saying how Gibbs second time was a failure and it just makes me want to choke, and then violently express myself against those people with various sharp objects and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Gibbs brought respect, professionalism, playoffs visits, the right players, and a lot more back to the Redskins. He showed the players and front office how it’s done. Not wanting to be categorized as a "homer" and with the total benefit of hindsight, I think he made two possible mistakes: Saunders and Williams. I applauded these decisions in the begining and acknowledge the contributions they made (at least Williams), but from the constrast of what I see this season I think they were bad choices. On the surface great coaches - but I always felt there was a sort of egotistic we are "above" the players attitude in those two which just seemed to get in the way of both their player relationships and schemes. I would have loved to see what Gibbs could have done with Zorn and Blache as coordinators. Regardless, I love what I am seeing now and I see direct similarities to this team and Gibbs first time around. Coaches and players that seem to be one team, coaches that not only adjust schemes to players but also adjust during the game when they need to, humble but confident players (and coaches), an offensive scheme that leans heavy on the run (and a few short passes) before killing you with the pass, a defense that relies primarily on playing smart and HARD more than fancy packages and blitzes (although they use them when it makes sense), all around desire to physically dominate on both sides of the ball, creativity on both sides of the ball, and Coaches that just seem to promote the right attitude. The scene of Bugel and Zorn smacking fists on the side lines, and Zorn telling Bugel something and then they both start laughing at Dallas...with about 10 minutes still on the clock told me these guys get it. Its intense, its hard work, its exciting, and its fun. No matter what they say – its not just a job. Sorry – I see the excitement has me rambling. I will stop and just go sit on the couch and wait patiently for tomorrow’s kickoff.
