A Couple of Random Thoughts About Our Team Yesterday:

With the exception of London Fletcher, who's picture should be in the dictionary under Football Player, and C. Griffin, our whole defensive unit that played yesterday are players that the Skins have drafted. Smoot is technically a free agent, but since he came back, I'm counting him too. That's got to say something about our draft the last few years. A few FA's sat yesterday...Springs, Washington, Taylor, Daniels.

For some reason Chris Horton impressed me almost as much yesterday as the first few games of the year. That tackle on Deshean Jackson was impressive, maybe saving a big play. He flew in, slid, and tripped him up. His speed is impressive.

Devin Thomas is huge. Maybe just standing next to ARE and Moss? He could be something if he can stop pushing off. Good to see him catch a couple.

The ref's were horrible yesterday. The kickoff return...horrible call. The ARE catch...he didn't get touched and would have gone for a score. Here's an idea, how about not blowing the whistle til your pretty sure he's down. All of the skins players said they didn't hear a whistle til ARE had run another 20 yards. Huh? Blown calls...horrible.

Suisham...damn, he had a great game. I won't mention the worst kickoff i've ever seen since he did everything else well.

JC is starting to remind me a little of Ben Roeth. Maybe I'm off base, but I always thought he had the potential but needed better pocket awareness/presence/footwork & playmaking ability. I think he's getting some of that now.

Thinking about it, we didn't draft Demetric Evans either. My error.

Horton's whiff on Reggie Brown was pretty bad though. I'll chalk that up to being a rookie mistake.

D. Thomas needs to get his head in the game. His penalties week in and week out are adding up.

I still can't believe the refs blew the whistle on ARE. I thought that should have been a TD. I don't see where he got touched at all.

I agree with the the two blown calls. Without those, there was a potential of a 30 - 10 score. But then again, perhaps it was the starting off at 0 - 24 that kept them focused to get the job done. With this game, I'm not playing the "what if" game... I'm quite satisfied with the outcome.

Jus' saying...

with the exception of the rookies, looks like all the stuff they have went through(st's passing, new coach and skeem)have made this team into a close bunch of guys.they never come close to quitting, giving up regardless of the task ahead.i don't think this team could have come back and beat philly last year like this.it's trust and maturation at it's best.

You can definitely see that the team LOVES that Zorn is willing to put the ball in their hands at the end of games. Zorn is playing to win, and that trust factor is bringing this team together.

I'm almost too afraid to be this optimistic about the Skins. They have shocked me for four weeks straight now and I can't remember a time that I was so proud of them. WOW!

Reality is this is a very good team. I know it's almost too good to believe but we should really enjoy this. It's been a long time since we've been this good. '99 was the last time the team started 4-1, but I remember that year our defense was horrible, so this year feels much different. It's a more complete team.

It's a good time to be a Skins fan. A good time indeed.

What we really need to seal it is a blow out. Put 40+ points on the board and I'll be a true believer. I would love to see Santana have a HUGE day during one of these next three games.

When Zorn gave the ball to Portis at mid field to put the game away he made a big statement. He trusted the line and CP to pick up the first and when the play stalled a bit short of the first down I saw our line and CP's will to put the game away. I'm not going to bash Gibbs but I cannot think of one time he put the game in the players hands and said go make a play and instead punted away. Plays like this make player believe in their coach because their coach believes in them.
