I think we need to remember Jansen was coming off a pretty significant injury. Perhaps he just needed some extra time to get all the way back.

That's a good point. And when you're the longest tenured player on your team and you get benched for an undrafted young guy like Heyer... Well that's a manhood issue. Jansen brought his hard hat and lunch pail to work the past few weeks and has played very well. Good for him. I love JJ and I hope he has won his job back.

I predicted early that JJ would get replaced. He's stepped in nicely and I'm impressed the guy has held up in two tough trench battles but... I somehow don't feel any more confident about our situation @ right tackle than I did since the draft. Heyer is still covered in baby fat and now seems to get nicked up more than a young guy should. I don't trust that Jansen can stay healthy either through the season. I hope both guys prove me wrong.

i wanted Jansen's head after pre season. but he has done a good job. no need to make any changes right now. and anyone know the status of Heyer?

According to Zorn, Heyer is still the starter b/c he is better in pass protection. He even said that Jansen hasn't done anything that is an improvement on why he was replaced. He said he wanted the job in the preseason and wants it now, that he has played well the last couple games, but it seems that if Heyer is healthy he will start.

It is good to know that our backup is starter material though. I hope one day Heyer can run block as well as him.

Exactly!! Why? This healthy OL is living up what Gibbs and Bugle had planned, unfortunately injuries the last couple of years took away what now is our strength. 4 out of our 5 Offensive linemen have been to the pro-bowl with the exception of Rabach who I think is pretty solid despite the last 2 weeks making a few mistakes.

Jansen has never made a Pro Bowl and I'm not sure if Thomas or Kendall has either.

Well, as far as I am concerned we are lucky to have two starting caliber right tackles.

In Zorn's press conference, he said that if Heyer is well enough to play, then he'll get his job back. So it looks like Jansen will be starting only until Stephon has healed.

Thomas was a pro-bowl alternate, Jansen was on the all-pro second team in 2005 and Kendall you are right, he wasn't a pro bowler my bad. Regardless, don't tell me these guys are not solid.
