The Return of the Gibbs.

I'm somewhere in between euphoric and cautious. I'm thrilled with how the team is playing and there is every indication they will continue to play well. However, it's week 5, we got killed in week 1, and it's a long season.

Agreed. That Dallas win on Sunday was huuuuuuge.

I can still remember my Mom waking me up and telling me JG was returning. We ran around the house screaming and waking everyone up. It was that big of a deal.

This is big, but its early, and us Redskins fans are now accustomed to emotional roller coaster. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.

This is the best I have felt sense last year when we started 3 and 1. Things change to fast in the NFL to get to pumped this early in the season.

I hugged a stranger in an internet cafe halfway around the world when Gibbs came back... I'm not there yet.

As for the 1991 comparisons, we aren't there either. That team was every bit as dominant as any team I have ever seen. They didn't allow a point for their first three home games and hung 40 something on the Lions (playoff team) on opening day. You could argue they only lost one game at full strength - and even that loss was marked by trick plays, lucky breaks, and just strange calls.

So, I am excited - but keeping 3-1 in perspective is important too. Ask me when we finish 18-1!

I'm thrilled with Zorn and am convinced he is the right coach for us. I'm also convinced we have a darn good team, a great future at QB, and am extremely excited. That said, this division is still ridiculously brutal. I need to see us get to 6-2 by the midpoint to feel really really good about the prospects this season.

Luckily we face the Rams, Lions and Browns after we play the Eagles.

Very hopeful, but the fear of a let-down is ever-present.

Same here, let's see how we do against the Eagles. Also I am worried about the Rams too. It's way too easy to sleep on them.

I agree it's early, but there's nothing wrong with enjoying things as they are now and daydreaming a little about what could be.

This is where my angry is fueled when they start screwing up. All the day dreaming of them winning the SB then realizing it ain't happen.

I agree that fortunes can change overnight in the NFL, and that has certainly been the hallmark of this particular team for many years now, but I have to say that this season feels a lot differently to me than previous seasons.

I'm not as worried about a mid season slump that typically occurs with this team because the two biggest question marks coming into the season, coaching and quarterback play, are light years ahead of where they were expected to be. When was the last time a Redskins team had a quarterback that was rated in the top five, even only four weeks in? And while I respect what Gibbs brought to the table, I do enjoy watching a coach go for the throat, instead of trying to sit on leads after the half.

If Campbell and Zorn continue to move forward as well as they have in just the first month of the season, this team could be a juggernaut by week 15.

It's like getting your hopes up about hooking up with the girl you partied/danced with, only to later learn about the dreaded boyfriend.

Bingo, it is more like you make a connection with a chick and then several days when having a good conversation with her the BF is dropped. DAGGER.

I remeber those days, glad to be married.

I feel as good about them now as I did at the HOF Game, and that is saying something, because usually by this part of the season reality has started to sink in.
As for long term, I was overseas in 91, back before the internet- so I missed most of the euphoria with that, but this feeling sure reminds me of the 80's when the NFC East battles were the fiercest.
