Lets be honest he has played great. And for the first time since joey t..we may have a franchise qb. He is signed through next year, but the dan would be a fool not to save money and lock him up this year the way they did cooley.
Anybodys predictions/thoughts on this subject???

If he keeps up this pace we will sign him either late in the year to show he is our guy going into the playoffs or in the off season. I'd perfer the off season as it seem after people get contracts durn the season seem to drop off some in their performance.

I agree completely, we have all learned what his capability is now in this league given the tutorship of a true QB-coach, and I think he is still only at 80% or so of his total potential. So, sign him today, before he takes us deep in the playoffs and we have to pay him Big-Ben or Peyton type money.
This is a great post as I have been discussing this with some of my fellow skins fans this week. I NEVER doubted and always defended Jay-Cam even after week 1 this year. So, not to bask in my own glory but it feels good to have a gut, and be proven correct. It's so funny to me how many of my boys have jumped back on his bandwagon after this great start, you know the ones, who said Collins should be playing after week one! haha

How mnay more games before he is extended? I hope they wait 12 more. He's played great in 3/4 games this year but the season is still young and a lot can happen. No need to rush this just to save a few $.

If Jason continues to play like this and we wait, the price will be much higher. I would love to see them get something done this year if the cap allows it. Perhaps the Danny could target the bye week to hammer something out.
I'd like to see it happen during the mid point of the year, as long as he keeps playing well of course which I'm sure he will.

But what if he doesnt play well the rest of the way? I dont know for certain but I'm not sure he's won 10 games yet. If he plays good the rest of the way then I say extend him but to do this in a couple more weeks is IMO too early. Based on DS's past moves, I suspect the deal he would get in 3 weeks or at the end of a successful season would be almost identical so the Skins should wait and see if he can actually get it done over the course of an entire season (which BTW would be his first).

I've always liked JC, but I really hadn't been convinced of his ability until the last few games. Seeing him improve from year to year has been apparent though.
I'd say that we wait a little bit before we extend him though. It's only been 4 games this season. I think if he continues to look good, maybe towards the end of the year would be time to answer that question. We're really not in a hurry right now.
