Offensive Line

Another good performance on the whole from this group. First the negatives: Randy Thomas struggled to remain consistent again, failing at his block on at least 5 different plays.


Can you chalk this up to age or too many all-you-can-eat buffets? Randy Thomas was our best lineman 2 or 3 years ago.

Thomas is still good while pulling, but when we ask him to step into either gap and make a block to open up a cutback lane, he looks less than comfortable.

I think it's just a comfort thing that will come with time. But improved diet is never a bad idea.

Backside blocking was always one of out biggest weaknesses under Saunders. That, and Casey Rabach. Zorn has clearly been stressing the importance of backside blocking, and I think it's improving our running game, but some of the guys just aren't used to it yet.
