Who has the better running duo in NFC east?MTK 01-05-2009, 02:30 PM Carolina Panthers have the best duo. We're talking about the East firstdown 01-05-2009, 04:52 PM Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Portis cry foul in the press and the media slam Zorn when Zorn tried to play another back? Zorn took him out of the game and thats not splitting up running time at all. I also think that Portis wants to be in the game when we need a big play or the game is on the line but deos not mind splitting up the running time other than that. firstdown 01-05-2009, 04:55 PM That's why I qualified my comment with (at least during the first half of the season). Portis had gaping holes to run through early in the season and even with the Ravens stellar O line, McLain and McGahee (their 2 leading rushers) only averaged 3.9 yards a carry each. Portis averaged 4.3. And how about passing the ball to the running backs once in a while? Did anyone see what Sproles, Westbrook and that dude named Cobbs in Miami were able to do in the passing game? I'd like to see Cartwright more on third down while Portis and Betts operate more like the backs in Carolina, Baltimore, New York, Miami, etc. I bet Cartwright would be good for 4-6 big plays each year (like Westbrook's 71 yard scamper yesterday off a screen pass). The Eagles O line didn't have anything to do with that play. What are you talking about. The Eagles O line was down the field providing blocking while WB ran around them to break the play open. The O line made that play. DarkKnight 01-05-2009, 05:03 PM Hey Hey Redskins fans don't be homer's makes you seem nuts, Cowboys, Giants, Philly, Skins, these other teams have great line play and runners who hit the hole running, even though I think we are last, we are just as close to 1st as any other team, put Clinton Portis behind any other line and see what he does. GusFrerotte 01-05-2009, 05:23 PM Portis and Betts would be tops before Betts caught a bad case of fumblitis, but I have to go with the Gmen duo. IF the Dallas duo was so great why didn't they make the playoffs? I mean they have a great O line and still those guys failed to impress me in December. saden1 01-05-2009, 06:50 PM Clearly the Giants have the best duo though 99% of the credit goes to their offensive line which is head and shoulders above 99% of offensive line in the league. Looking at their yards per carry tells you all you need to know. This is a team sports folks and the Skins can't bring it all together neither can the sore Cowboys. maroonandblack30 01-05-2009, 07:49 PM 1. Giants 2. Cowboys 3. Eagles/Skins (toss up) Obviously O-line play is crucial and the Skins o-line is somewhat suspect in the run game. Actually saying the Skins have a "duo" is a stretch since Betts never gets carries. Portis is the 3rd or 4th best back in the East. I would take Jacobs or Westbrook anyday. Skins4L 01-05-2009, 07:56 PM We pretty much didnt run a "Duo"... So Disclude us. this is a funny subject for Skins fans because... Up until this year we didnt need a "DUO". CP Was an ALL GAME/EVERY DOWN RB. Weve always had duo Capabilities with the very capable Betts luming on our Depth Chart. But i think next year well see what our "Duo" can do. 81forHOF 01-05-2009, 08:41 PM Betts hasn't done anything for two years. Give me Westbrook/Buckhalter combo over the rest. Skins4L 01-05-2009, 09:14 PM Zorn took him out of the game and thats not splitting up running time at all. I also think that Portis wants to be in the game when we need a big play or the game is on the line but deos not mind splitting up the running time other than that. Prescise my friend, exactly. |
