i'll take the 1-2 punch of portis & betts following big mike sellers out of the backfield.
portis may not have the total numbers one would expect for a number 1 rusher, but there is not a better all around total back in the league.he's the best rb at catching and stopping blitzes i have ever seen.

Don't get me wrong...I'm a huge Redskins fan and I love there running attack when they are clicking! However, for you to say that Clinton Portis is the best RB at catching the football that you've ever scene is a little crazy! Either you haven't scene a lot of football or you are just a monsterous Portis fan. Have you seen Reggie Bush? Do you remember Marshall Faulk? E. James in his prime? Brian Westbrook for the past 5-6 years?

As far as blocking he is top notch for sure! But lets be realistic when we give the whole picture.

My order:

1 - Dallas - Marion Barber is an absolute STUD! I'd love to have him on our team. F. Jones looks like the real deal. That combo in years to come is going to be scary if Barber doesn't get hurt.
2t - G-Men - Jacobs, Ward, Bradshaw is a great combo
2t - Redskins - Portis / Betts can both be game breakers
4 - Eagles - As good as Westbrook is...if goes down, they have NO ONE!

Good question and if you say through 3 games then you go dallas or ny, But over the long haul gotta go Skins. Portis is the only feature back, We'll see this year if barber can get through a whole season as the number 1 guy.

Yeah, LT and Westbrook have both led their conferences in receptions if I am not mistaken. Portis as a receiving threat is a relatively new thing. Last year's 47 catches was his career high, and so far this year out of Saunders' offense he is only on pace for like 20 catches.

Thanks for the support...completely forgot about LT! How could I've done that! If you want to go way back you can even throw Thurman Thomas on this list as well as several otheres. IE: Frank Gore, The Priest, L.Johnson, etc.

Why not just name the thread what you really think "Dallas Has A Better Running Game". You make it like a question when all you really wanted to do is to say Dallas has a better running game. Its not like your going to debate the subject and change your mind.

Dallas Blows!!!!!!!

Maybe a new question in the spirit of the season.........
Who has the scariest Halloween face, Jerry or the Dan?
Oh...., do we have to disqualify JJ, since it may not really be his??

I think we can stop the run game because we've stopped it past, but I'm kinda scared with witten and TO. I think Horton (or Doughty) will do a good job with both.

I think if you look at the current performance of RBs, I would put Dallas RB tandem 1st, because of the amount of yds/TDs and they've played two good defenses (Philly and GB). I want to go with the Skins second, but Philly has played Pittsburgh and Dallas, which have good defenses, and they still put up 3 TDs, although not as many yds. The Skins are a close 3rd, due to the amount of yds and putting up 3 TDs, as with Philly, Washington's running game is just one player (Portis). Our team has played two average defenses (N.O./Cards) and a good defense (NYG). Finally, I would put NYG's RB tandem fourth b/c althougth they've gained a lot of yds, they have 1 TD to show for, and this is playing against teams like St. Louis and Cincy, which have weak defenses. Plus, we kept Jacobs scoreless, despite gaining over 100 yds against us.

I like the big back/scat back duo that the Gmen have. However, the offensive lines of these teams play a huge role in determining the best duo. Right now--I think Dallas' O line is the best run blocking line and therefore Barber and Jones have the best numbers. A great running back cannot compensate for a poor Oline. A great Oline only needs an above average back to produce good stats...
