Snyder buys 8.15 million shares of Six Flags (http://money.cnn.com/2004/08/31/news/newsmakers/six_flags.reut/)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The owner of the Washington Redskins football team has bought an 8.8 percent stake in Six Flags Inc., saying he wants change. Microsoft's Bill Gates also said he owns a big stake and may work with other investors to improve results at the theme park operator.

Shares of Six Flags Inc. (PKS: up $1.11 to $5.57, Research, Estimates), under pressure for weeks due to slipping attendance, rose more than 20 percent Tuesday. They have fallen by nearly half from their 52-week high in March of $8.80. They traded above $41 in May 1999.

Redskins owner Daniel Snyder said in a Monday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that he has bought 8.15 million Six Flags shares for about $34.5 million since Aug. 11 and may buy more.

THE BEST news that Skins' fans could possibly get is that Danny Boy decides that he needs to run Six Flags on a day-to-day basis and therefore has to turn over full and complete control of the football operations to Joe Gibbs. Danny Boy leaves the area and moves to wherever Six Flags needs him most and does not even phone Redskins Park for two years.

If that happens, I suspect we are talking two Super Bowl appearances in 2005 and 2006.

Everyone boycott Six Flags so they get into deep financial doo-doo and Danny Boy has to ride to the rescue... :D

he has a hand in the tools they have to work with though (jeff george, spurrier), and he's made his share of mistakes... the business side (profits) have been untouchable, but his media relations haven't always gone as well they could have.

It's gonna cost a lot more to park at six flags!

Go, Danny, Go! Gibbs will call when he needs cash.

Well said.
The Danny boy could be a little more hands off. But overall I like the guy! At least he's always putting his money where his mouth is and trying! :thumb:
