I don't think it's that simple Daseal. The culture that Gibbs instilled - in the 80's and to perhaps a larger extent in his second term - was one of responsibility and character. To be sure, people slipped, but there was a conscientious effort from the top down to build a team of solid citizens. The Cowboys, on the other hand, have only ever cared about winning, character be damned. From there drug-addled teams in the 70's, to the aformentioned Johnson era teams, to today where that criminal madman Pacman runs around their stadium.

Me? I'd rather win a superbowl with crooks than suck with choir boys, but I certainly respect what Gibbs did. I definitely think there's a world of difference between the culture of the Skins and the culture down in Dallas.

You make George Washington cry.

I'm a skins fan, but i also find it interesting, disgusting, and inhumane at some of the antics of some of the Cowboys teams.

I'm not niave enough to believe the the Skins players are Saints themselves but I do think that we've always tried to place some emphasis on character, especially in the Gibbs years. So, I'd rather lose than to have an Adam Jones on my team.

the nfl had to know about the irvin incident, and it would'nt surprise me in the least,if they helped cover it up.how many of the owners knew about it? i sure as hell bet some of them did.i know that the redskins have'nt been choir and altar boys through the years, but i can't ever see gibbs, pardee, allen, zorn, beathard, casserley,or anybody else from the redskins ever taking stupidity and lawlessness to this level.i wish the dallas attorney general would slap an obstruction of justice charge on jerry jones for it.
now i see why dallas was south america's team!!!!

I would read this book in a heart beat. It's good sutff, particularly if you're a football fan. And let's not kid ourselves. For every Charles Mann, Monte Coleman, Darrell Green, Art Monk and Tim Johnson...we had Tony Peters, Barry Wilburn, Dexter Manley, Michael Westbrook, George Rogers, Timmy Smith and so on. The Redskins had plenty of guys that were just as bad. Our beloved Joe Thiesmann was banging Cathy Lee Crosby in his hotel room during the SB week when we got our asses handed to us by the Raiders. At the time Joe was married and I believe he got caught in the act. That never made it to the press but it's a true story. Doc Walker all but confirmed it on the radio last year.

I'll post it again. Read THIS (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8575722/Pearlman's-book-shows-how-bad-the-'Boys-were). Thanks for the info. re: the settlement.

Very interesting stuff. Irvin should've went to jail.
