People baying for Mortons blood obviously have someone else in mind for a third down back/kick returner. Morten cannot return kicks on his own without blocking and special teams were far from special last year . The fact he managed to return one was a testement to his skills . He also came into some games at running back and looked much quicker and decisive than any of the other backs we had at times pluss he has the hands and speed to fill a flanker role in Gibbs offence.

Thrash was brought in because of his work ethic, the fact he had been a starting WR in Philly and he can contribute on special teams specifically on PR and give some opptions on kick returns.

So far, the blocking has been 100% better than last season, and Morton has not been impressive in his returns. He seems indecisive on punt returns. But it is extremely doubtful that Thrash will be a regular return-man. Gibbs definitely does not like his starters on offense OR defense returning kicks. Thrash will be either #3 or #2 WR, so he will have VERY limited return duties. So, it seems the return jobs are still up for grabs.

As if there isn't enough competion at H-Back, they were running Trash out of the backfield a lot in the first quarter. I don't think Gibbs isn't happy with the H-Backs (Cooley,Kozlowski...) but I do think that he wanted to work on something without totally tipping his hat to Tampa. Thrash will be here but in a more physical role than the typical wideout.

If you remember, Gibbs occasionally used a wideout to block defensive linemen years ago. Monk and sometimes Sanders would seal off the backside on counter-trey runs. I've seen McCants once or twice do the same thing this preseason.

DB Ryan Clark had been listed as cut in the WP... but he wasn't cut yet.
Redskins website gave the Post another jab.

no way they let morton or jacobs go, those guys aren't that expensive to begin with...

Check the Sary cap information, Morton is quite expensive for what he gives. HE did score a touchdown last year but the previous year Metcalf scored a TD and he was cheap. Clear cap space now with players who haven't shown anything this year. I do not see him in practice so it would be unfair to judge him. But what I have seen in preseason, cut him.

Someone said Scott Cloman would be a good pick-up for some one.

Maybe the Scottish Claymores...

Or try the CFL, I heard that's where he could be headed
