Im only posting this because it happened at the school my mom teaches at. Plus it’s always nice to see positive contributions made by our team. My mom said they made a big deal about not making a big deal about it. That they arnt doing it for good PR, but rather just because it’s a good thing to do, which I think is pretty sweet.
My mom's classroom was one of the lucky ones that actually got a Redskin to come in and read a book for the kids. She had Lorenzo Alexander come to her class. She got me his autograph and a Redskins Read activity book. She also got some pictures on her new camera, which if she can figure out how to download them to her computer and send them to me I will post here (50/50 chance).
The school she teaches at is Bailey’s Elementary School, which is a “magnate” school for the arts and sciences for Fairfax Co., so it has kids bused in from around the county to take advanced and specially offered classes. But it’s also a Virginia Title 1 school – being that the vast majority of the kids there are from low income families and rough neighborhoods. This really kinda made it especially nice that these kids got something like this. Either way you got to love some of the questions the kids asked.
Also on a side note: Leigh Torrence and I both share Where the Red Fern Grows as our favorite book (1 of 3 "chapter books" I have ever read).
