Vince Young 'hurting inside'

It definitely appears to be unraveling pretty quickly. But I never knew him to be a locker room problem. Can you elaborate on that?
He really has not been except, he has missed a team plane, has spoken publicly about retiring, stated that football was not that much fun anymore, etc. His mom did not help!!!
I think the other guys will have problems believing in him. That's the potential locker room problem.
I cannot believe the team would act so forcefully....foolishly without cause(by notifying the police of his absence) as these are guys that deal with serious health issues/problems regularly.

It was my understanding that the Titans reacted that way based on the phone call they received from Vince's family members. Someone was obviously overly concerned about him. Or not. It could be that they in fact did not overreact at all, and they're totally downplaying the situation to back off the media while they figure out how to deal with a mentally very unstable individual. Just a suggestion. It could be the case.

Shame on all you people if VY actually has a mental issue. Whether it be depression or worst, stuff like that is serious. I still can't believe the lack of consideration, it disgusts me.

Leinart still has a bright future ahead of him IMO. Warner is just a better QB right now. But Leinart can play in the NFL. I don't think Alex Smith can. Smith just doesn't have the ability.Agreed.

How come people say VY does not have the talent to play in the NFL but then hop to another thread supporting JC and think he will be OK.Because the only possible comparison between them given their college histories and early career statistics is obvious, but not relevant.

Campbell can throw the ball at the pro level. Young has yet to show that. Both need to improve, but one still needs to prove he belongs first.

I think his Mom needs to keep her trap shut.

It really never was...after his rookie season there were reports that he "seriously considered" retiring.

I don't see VY becoming the passser that McNabb is either.

But then again, coming out of college a lot of people had serious doubts about McNabb ever developing into a quality passing QB and he's definitely beaten those odds.

You are absolutely right that athletes owe US nothing, but VY signed a multi-million dollar contract with the Titans to perform as a QB to the best of his ability for the term of that contract. By signing his contract he has to accept the responsibility to the Titans that goes along with it and not shut-down the minute things go sideways.

I think VY can be a solid NFL QB, but he needs to get a thicker skin and understand that he's going to need to work very hard at technique and in the filmroom. Hopefully he takes this as a learning experience and comes back a better and more mature player.

However, while I do feel they owe us nothing, if not for us, they would not have that lucrative contract. We are the reason they are in business.

That's exactly right. HE's a Vick type player and that kind of QB technique doesnt work in the NFL. He's got tons of talent but its not the kind of talent that works well for an NFL QB. Looking at young NFL QBs, if its a college game I want a VY type QB but in a pro game a want a Matt Ryan type QB. Ryan's skill set is more suited to the NFL game.
