I heard someone (Schefter maybe?) talking about the number of young QB in the NFL these days and it got me to thinking where Skins fans think JC ranks in the fray.. There's been so much rush to crucify Campbell and 'he should know better by now' sentiment, I wonder if his peers bear that out.

So using the criteria of being drafted in the 1st 3 rounds (and other notables) of the past 4 years, where does JC fall in the hierarchy?

2005-
1st Round:
Alex Smith-Backup SF
Aaron Rogers-Starter GB
Jason Campbell-Starter Washington

3rd Round:
Charlie Frye-Backup Seattle
Andrew Walter-Backup (?) Oakland
David Greene-Out of the league

Other Notables:
Kyle Orton (5th round)-Starter Chicago
Derek Anderson (6th round by Balt.)-Starter Cleveland
Matt Cassel (6th round)-Starter NE

2006-
1st Round:
Vince Young-Starter TN
Matt Leinart-Backup Arizona
Jay Cutler-Starter Denver

2nd Round:
Kellen Clemens-Backup NYJ
Tavares Jackson-Starter Minn

3rd Round:
Charlie Whitehurst-Backup SD
Brodie Croyle-Starter KC

2007-
1st Round:
Jamarcus Russell-Starter Oakland
Brady Quinn-Backup Cleveland

2nd Round:
John Beck-Backup Miami
Drew Stanton-Backup Detroit

3rd Round:
Trent Edwards-Starter Buffalo

Other notables:
Troy Smith (5th round)-Backup Baltimore

2008- 1st round only
1st Round:
Matt Ryan-Starter Atlanta
Joe Flacco-Starter Baltimore

So of all of Campbell's peers (12 starters-12 backups or out of the league) I can only identify 2 QB-Cutler and Anderson, that I would prefer over Campbell. Is there anyone else from this list that you think is better than Campbell at this point in their careers?

Cutler, Rodgers, and Edwards would come closest for me

2005-
1st Round:
Alex Smith-Backup SF: NO
Aaron Rogers-Starter GB: Toss up
Jason Campbell-Starter Washington: Hmm...Campbell or Campbell?

3rd Round:
Charlie Frye-Backup Seattle: Would rather have Tim Couch
Andrew Walter-Backup (?) Oakland: Please, you kidding me?
David Greene-Out of the league: Absolutely, LOL. Seriously though, Zorn pushed heavily for this guy when the Seahawks drafted him so...

Other Notables:
Kyle Orton (5th round)-Starter Chicago: All he does is win. Seriously though, he's like a poor, really poor, man's Roethlisberger
Derek Anderson (6th round by Balt.)-Starter Cleveland: I'm not sold on him
Matt Cassel (6th round)-Starter NE: No

2006-
1st Round:
Vince Young-Starter TN: No
Matt Leinart-Backup Arizona: Bigger bust, Leinart or Smith?
Jay Cutler-Starter Denver: Maybe

2nd Round:
Kellen Clemens-Backup NYJ: No
Tavares Jackson-Starter Minn: If he could just stay consistent, he could be a dominating QB.

3rd Round:
Charlie Whitehurst-Backup SD: No
Brodie Croyle-Starter KC: Poor, poor KC

2007-
1st Round:
Jamarcus Russell-Starter Oakland: Wasn't impressed with him yesterday
Brady Quinn-Backup Cleveland: He'll be better than Anderson in the long run, in my opinion

2nd Round:
John Beck-Backup Miami: No
Drew Stanton-Backup Detroit: I had/have high hopes for him, but he can't even beat out Orlovsky for the right to back up Kitna right now

3rd Round:
Trent Edwards-Starter Buffalo: I'm a big Trent Edwards fan, and I think he'd do great in Zorn's WCO. Toss up

Other notables:
Troy Smith (5th round)-Backup Baltimore: No

2008- 1st round only
1st Round:
Matt Ryan-Starter Atlanta: Too early to tell
Joe Flacco-Starter Baltimore: Too early to tell

Speaking of young QBs, I realy thought Chris Simms was going to be a good one, he has never played again since rupturing his spleen, I wonder if it had anything to do with his demise.

Well it looks like the Titans are about to sign Simms. So he might just get another chance

Also...Aaron Rodgers looks better and say what you will about Vince Young but he has lead his team to the playoffs and has a winning record with worse WR's and TE's than JC has at his disposal...

I can't believe Colt wasn't named at the top of the list... LOL

...cause he should be at the top. Of every list for QB. Every team. Except maybe Indy but Peyton looked pretty shitty this weekend so maybe Indy too.

Indy would have actually won against Chicago w/ Colt at the helm. Dungy probably wishes he could go back in time before the draft.

Exactly. Here we go into another weekend w/ the most talented 3rd string QB in the history of football - not just the NFL - all football in the universe.
