Some interesting comments from Giants players:

"It shouldn't have happened, but it happened," LB Antonio Pierce said of the play. "Our guy is okay, he's healthy. That's all that matters right now. ... It's smart on (Samuels') behalf. No doubt. If David Diehl or Kareem (McKenzie) was in that position, I'd expect them to do the same thing. They could go about it a different way, maybe. I wouldn't want them to try to almost injure a guy and have him out for a couple of weeks. From that standpoint, that's disappointing, but I would expect our guys to protect Eli."

"I understand his reasons for doing it, I don't necessarily agree with it," Tuck added. "You're putting a player's health in the balance there, that's always going to be questionable. But I know Chris. He's not a guy like that (who would) try to take out another guy. It was just a bad judgment play."

Ok, What part of Samuels grabbing illegally and [B]both[B] players losing their balance and falling to the ground constitutes a cheap shot. Hell I could almost argue if the DE had not lost his balance and fell down Samuels would not have fallen on his leg. The fact that Samuels was holding/hugging the guy is not cheap it's a penalty yes. The fact both fell down and Samuels accidentally fell on top of him does not constitute a cheap shot.

Maybe the DE needs to re-evaluate his playing in the NFL cause it's full of players landing on each other during the plays. I think the whole Giants defense was providing cheap shots then. Poor Portis was landed on several times...just about everytime they tried to tackle him.

or maybe this should be flag football if the Giants can't take the pounding.

It was a good chip, textbook but the cheap shot at the end of the game was uncalled for.

Samuels was trying to protect his qb. Yes, it was not a nice ending to the play, and guess what, he got penalized for it, but he was doing whatever he could to help win that game. Obviously it was not malicious cause Samuels stood over Kiwanuka knowing he did wrong. What Pierce did was far more devious. I would not be happy if it happened to one of our guys, so I understand your point, but the fact that Samuels stood over him in an "apology" like stance means it was just an accident.

Holding, grabing some Jersey ...yup illegal but not cheap I agree, diving on the mans legs from behind..............dirty.I can defend myself when I see a player coming at me but when they come from behind there is nothing a man can do.What people seem to forget also is he just sat out most of last year with a broken leg ...the same leg.Why do you think a clip is illegal or no blocking in the back,or even the horse coller rule?

quit your crying about that play. the game is over you won the game.

They're being worst than the Redskins fans who are overreacting. If Giants' fans want to cry about something, they should whine about their offense not being able to put the game away.

Let's see. Last play of the game, Skins have no chance to win, and Kiwanuka angling for a meaningless kill shot on Campbell. What do you expect him to do? He didn't do anything different than most DB's when they get beat. But, how bout this beauty?

^^^ the refs should have flagged this, especially considering the fact that washington and jacobs jawwed it up the play earlier. the thing that really got me was how the refs were trying to settle things down afterwards by talking with the players. You throw the f'in flag when a PF happens and you dont have to "counsel" players and things dont get out of hand having guys tearing others helemts off, etc . . . .

i expected alot better control from ed and co. but by not throwing the flag on this play they lost control of the game. surprised madden and co didnt comment on this AT ALL but keep harping on jacobs running over landry.

oh about that samuels play, he did what he had to do. samuels is a good guy, no harm intended.

go skins!

Thanks for the video. Looks pretty obvious to me that Samuels knew he got beat, made the intentional penalty to save his QB, and their legs got tangled up and they both went down.

Samuels also hung around after the play with Kiwanuka, looked like he was trying to help him or say he was sorry or something - he was obviously showing concern. Not like he jumped on his legs and got up and taunted him.
