dmvskinzfan08 09-15-2008, 02:07 PM It was a horrible comparison but I do not agree that JC's poor play last year came from offensive line or piss poor wideout play. Sorry, I do not agree with that at all. Collins did just fine with that O line and the wideouts.
Yeah after the O-line started playing better with time later in the year and the receivers were healthier also. They had just started to gel. I am not saying anything else. JC will make some people eat crow. Get yor hot sauce ready.
People can't be happy with the win. Even when he plays good people still hate him. Why?

I am one that will totally back him if he consistently does well. The use of the word hater and idiots around here is a bit over done. People want to see him play that well over and over again, and I don't blame them. If you are realistic you know that JC played many more games poorly then he has played like he did on Sunday, so of course you are going to have doubters. Just ask Riggo and the boys on 980.
I loved what I saw on Sunday and not because the O line and wideouts did their job. I saw confidence and I saw poise and I saw JC change what he's done before that wasn’t working. THAT is growth, and I'm all for it.
KLHJ2 09-15-2008, 02:17 PM OK, since we can't leave stuff alone. Here is what I was drawing the comparison from.
How many times did Vick miss a deep target?
How many times did Vicks receivers drop passes when he did hit them?
How many times was Vick accused of holding the ball too long?
Do any of the above questions seem familiar?
I was never comparing the abilities of the two QB's, I was comparing the similar problems and scrutiny due to those problems.
Furthermore, when Vick had that one great game, he sat down at his press conference and told the press that his performance that day should shut up all of the critics because he had proved that he could pass in the pocket. (PARAPHRASING)
In reality he only shut them up for a week because the very next game, it was the same old Vick, missing the deep ones and having his WR's drop the rest.
Campbell did an OUTSTANDING job this week. But can he do it again, and again, and again?

Well what other word should be used besides hater when JC does good and people still want him to fail for some reason???? Exactly!
he is going to have good games and bad games. Who has perfect games every Sunday. Evening Peyton Manning has poor games. The O-line and wide outs do make a difference and if you have a o-line is protecting you you can gain more confidence because you have a chance to make throws.
As far as the Vick comparisions. There are other Qbs that have missed long passes and have had receivers drop balls. So the comparison is not a good one. Vick made his living running the ball. JC doesn't. Vick was a running QB. JC is more of a pocket passer by far. Be happy we won and stop trying to find things to criticize. Are you more about JC failing or us winning. Ponder that for a minute.
JC is not Ryan Leaf!! You have to give a QB a chance to grow. He will make mistakes but it only makes him better. I have seen far more horrible QBs. People have to be patient. He hasn't even had two full seasons yet. Eli Manning was given time to develop look at him now.
Imagine if we had Rex Grossman, Jon Kitna or someone like that. Then you would have vailidity to your arguement.
Redskin Warrior 09-15-2008, 02:50 PM Campbell is still catching heat? Unbelievable. I saw a lot of progress. Not bad for the 2nd game. I fully expect him to continue. Does'nt mean every game will be great but he is improving in this offense. Is'nt that what good quarterbacks do? Is'nt that what we were looking for? Underthrown to Moss? Get real dude. That was a great play all around.
100% agree
mooby 09-15-2008, 02:58 PM It's amazing how much people flip flop on JC. I was at the game, up in section 412, and there were these guys sitting behind me, and after every failed play that involved JC, this guy would just trash him. He'd start talking about how Colt Brennan should be playing, how long it's been and JC still sucks, etc. Then the 4th quarter bomb happened and this dude starts celebrating and telling all his friends how he knew deep down that JC has it. I'm sure there are people on this board exactly like that too.
That's why after every game, win or lose, I pretty much remind myself that they aren't as horrible as they look, or in the case of a winning game, they aren't as good as they look.

It's pretty easy to flip flop when JC has been so inconsistent. However, I have never seen him play the way he played on Sunday. There hasn't been a game prior that I came away feeling that good about him. I didn't see much in that game that he did wrong, so I'm surprised you heard a guy screaming for Colt at all.
mooby 09-15-2008, 03:04 PM LOL you'd be suprised. After an overthrow, a sack, any kind of negative play that involved JC you would've been hearing 2-3 guys calling for Collins or Brennan.

He wasn't perfect, but compared to his play previously? OMG, it was like night and day. That kid was fighting for his job out there and he did very well. I just hope he keeps it up!
TheMalcolmConnection 09-15-2008, 03:12 PM One thing that's bothered me is what exactly has he done to warrant all the criticism ANYWAY? He's been pretty consistent over the years that he's started and that includes a fairly dated offensive scheme he was running.
It's almost like people were taking that first Giants game and acting like that's the only one that "counted" when it comes to JC.
