SFREDSKIN 09-05-2008, 12:09 AM I just want to know where are all those people that thought that picking up someone like Randy Moss or Chad Johnson was a bad idea. Once again, JC f'ed big time during this game, but everyone has been talking about the need for a playmaker receiver. Santana Moss is not a playmaker receiver, Plaxico Burress is, so is T.O., so is Randy Moss. The fact that we were throwing to James Thrash at the end of the game, should be a red flag.
Anyway, this game is over and there's another game next week. I hope we learn from these mistakes and I hope the team picks up on things that worked out during the game.
We have 3 guys we picked up in the draft that should contribute during the season, unfortunately not soon enough. They should activate Fred Davis and put him in the mix, after all he had a decent camp, hopefully Thomas and Kelly can start contributing by game 5 or 6.
skinsguy 09-05-2008, 12:14 AM Ahh yes. Criticize poor play by your team, and your not a "real fan."
I suppose if the Redskins lose, nobody's allowed to say anything right?
That's about the only time you do say anything.
Twilbert07 09-05-2008, 12:15 AM The Redskins picked up where they left off at the end of preseason. We have no offense, which is ironic given that we have an offensive-minded head coach.
GusFrerotte 09-05-2008, 12:15 AM It was a horrible game I hope they start playing A LOT better. I expected to see them play a lot better than they did. I've been a big Colt fan for a few years now and i'd like to see what he can do in a regular season game...
Too early for Colt time MR Packer Backer. JC needs to get into the flow of things with the new look. If he keeps producing crap like tonight, then yeah bring in the kid. Can't write the season off already, it looks dismal right now, but if we waste the Saints on the 14th everything will be cool. That being said we have a lot of work and healing to do before then.
53Fan 09-05-2008, 12:26 AM Gosh I thought we'd look great with a brand new coach and a new offense for everyone to learn. Yea we looked bad but lets get real. We stunk and lost to the super bowl champs 16-7 in our first game of the season. The giants started o-2 last year and won the super bowl. What were people saying about Manning and the Giants then? Look I know we can play a lot better. I believe we will.
53Fan 09-05-2008, 12:30 AM Speaking of Portis I loved the hit he put on Kiwanouka, I wish it would have Pierce instead, the guy has turned into an arrogant PUNK!!
I could'nt agree more. He use to be my favorite player but I lost all respect for him tonight.

I say play more of both of them. Randle El is a bust in my opinion, not much of a playmaker at all. He has had his moments, but not too many. Thrown in these tall kids and let them run. Santana still has long ball threat attached to him, but since the West Coast is shorter passing, thus the very reason we picked him up is negated. Speed is only good for medium to longer routes or should I say it is maximized. As for Thrash? He was at his height in team value during his first run with us(Norv) as the return man and 5th WR, when we had Westbrook, Connelly, Andre Reed, Alvin Harper, etc. He was OK when Brad Johnson was here, but never became a feature WR with us.
hagams 09-05-2008, 12:42 AM Okay now that this joke of a game is over and I'm slapped back to reality i begin to think. The world is really about to end since My Red Sox is the team to beat and my Skins can barely stay afloat. First things first I'm sorry for all the Joe Gibbs bashing I did last year for time management and stupid play calling. He can't be the idiot who decided to still try to run the ball with 6 minutes left in the game. Second the defense despite missing players and a few playing hurt did an awesome job for stopping the bleeding early. So know to the bashing.
1) Zorn first game as a coach was as expected. I din't expect him to walk on water or turn it into wine but, wtf? The way the plays was called he has no busy being our O.C. let alone our Head Coach. The entire game was third and long because we had predictable runs on first and second. Its like i was watching the computer on John Madden calling plays. Even my 4 year old son asked me why don't they pass?
2) Campbell is turning into the same dink and dunk loser he replaced in Mark Brunell. I thought we picked this kid up because of his strong arm but i didn't see a long pass thrown until the last 2 minutes of the game. He didn't have a terrible game but he did have a predictable one. One that lets the defense cheat and win the game. If he doesn't let the ball go sooner or turn it up Collins or my boy COLT will be breathing down HIS Horsecollar.
3) Santana Moss, dude really.. Hang on to the ball.
4) I think this team is starting to end in the same league as the Cardinals or the Ravens. Every year they trick you with pick-ups that make you believe they might make a run or do good and each year they fold..No better then a wildcard one and done.
So I say i waited seven months for this? Its like the scary movie we've seen five times over. We already know whats going to happen but we butcher ourselves with this crap. The only bright star so far is our defense. Is it early yes. But we have so much to fix to make a real run.
1. Agreed on the play calling, but how far in depth can they go into a 2 minute offense etc. during the off-season. By far my biggest problem with the play calling is that they didn't try to get the ball to Cooley early. That would have kept the LB's from being able to roam free for sacks and tackles for losses.
2. JC is not firing on all cylinders. There is something going on behind the scenes. Maybe the footwork zorn has him doing or something. But something isn't right. I'm not calling for, nor will I be calling for his head this season, but it needs to be addressed before next Sunday.
3. Agreed. Santana is starting his Sh*t again. Maybe we should have drafted another small fast wide receiver and got rid of him, instead of picking up to big WR's.
4. I never thought we would be "making a run" this year. Everything is too new. I just hope that the coach and JC, and the rest of the Offense took notes. Because they played horrible ball all game.
Defense: You freaking rock! There was a couple times that I wanted to toss the T.V out the window. Mostly for getting run over by Brandon Jacobs.....but.....dude is freaking huge.
firstdown 09-05-2008, 12:44 AM Sad Sad Sad!!!! If That Was Gibbs We Would Have Won That Game!!! Offense Is Way Behind Defense, Jc Never Had A Chance To Throw Down Field! Rogers Still Cant Catch A Pick! Run D Was Bad... Burress Killed Us, Springs Is Always Hurt, Portis Still Plays Harder Than Any Other Player On Team! We Should Have Won That Game... Eli Looked Very Average, We Will See What This Team Is Made Of Next Sunday Vs N.o.... We Start Off 0-2 And Its Going To B A Long Season Guys!!!
It looked just like JG's O when he came back, The D while it played weak at times held the Gmen to only 16 points and that with no help from the O.
Schneed10 09-05-2008, 12:46 AM It's no surprise we sucked. We sucked in the preseason, that wasn't a mirage (I tried to tell ya!). And there's historical precedent: Hasselbeck took a long time to play decently in this offense too.
Expecting the passing game to hit the groud running was entirely unrealistic. We have to try to win with Portis and defense, and hope our passing game does just enough to get by.
