There is no point in the guys playing more than a quarter. If they do, they will be playing against 2nd string guys. What does that prove or help?
Should The Starters Play Against Jacksonville?GoSkins! 08-25-2008, 12:42 PM There is no point in the guys playing more than a quarter. If they do, they will be playing against 2nd string guys. What does that prove or help? BugelDisciple 08-25-2008, 12:57 PM I think the starters should see limited action. We squeaked by a terrible Jets team last season after getting dominated by the Pats. The last thing we need is a flat offense against the defending Super Bowl champs. MTK 08-25-2008, 12:58 PM I said for a few plays/series. The ideal situation would be they get in and get a nice drive going, get some points, and pull them out. If it's a situation like last week where they can't even keep JC off the ground, get them right outta there. MPNRedskins 08-25-2008, 01:04 PM They should play the entire first quarter, unless Campbell gets put on his ass too much. Then, they need to pull them out so the first team is not screwed for the season opener. Hopefully, Coach Zorn will right the ship and get this thing back on track. Redskin Warrior 08-25-2008, 01:16 PM If they play a few series/plays do you think they could last the whole season opener game for all 4 quarters? Practice speed & game speed is totally different and if the Carolina game was our "game speed" then we need to play longer because there d-line slaughter our o-line and as a pro bowl o-lineman like Samuels is he should never but shoved into his QB like that. Maybe if it was one play I would probably be like damn Chris but it was the whole game. skinsfan69 08-25-2008, 01:28 PM I simply would not risk it. Crank up the intensity in practice. We need to start game planning for NY today. Screw this last pre season game. Dan22 08-25-2008, 01:44 PM I voted a few series because our starters need to prove that the Carolina game was an accident. They also need to regain some confidence, especially for our O-line. But I think that for now, most of our players are still healthy and we shouldn't "attempt the devil" too much. skinsnut 08-25-2008, 01:47 PM Have the offense play until they score a TD....period. Let the defense play until they get a 3 and out or a turnover...period 70Chip 08-25-2008, 02:10 PM On the one hand, there's the feeling that the starters need to play, play a considerable amount, on Thursday night after the beatdown they took in the only "meaningful" preseason game. On the other hand, why risk serious injury in a game that is historically the most meaningless of games? Because it might be their last chance at winning for a while? firstdown 08-25-2008, 02:12 PM I simply would not risk it. Crank up the intensity in practice. We need to start game planning for NY today. Screw this last pre season game. The two players we lost for the season was in practice so what the difference? |
