hey mods whoever the first one to start the collins should be the starter thread should be banned forever.....the idea of collins needing to be the starter is as credible as the skins should name me as starting qb...i do have the physical tools...6'5 240 and a lefty..lol.... collins looks like a deer caught in the headlights everytime this preseason i have seen him play. campbell is our guy...win lose or draw thats who i want behind center.
Yeah, as much as JC has struggled as of late TC clearly is not ready to come in the way he did last year.
redsk1 08-24-2008, 08:34 PM My first post since the game last night...
That was about as bad a performance as I've seen in a long time. Maybe the Patriots game last year compares, but the Patriots had one of the best offenses ever.
There's no need for positives, b/c there was none. Maybe the punter, but that's about it.
Can we rebound? Sure. Do I have major concerns about the offense? Yes. We haven't had one of our draft choices show any signs of being able to contribute during the regular season yet. That just leaves us, SM and ARE. I'm not sold on them getting it done.
Do I have major concerns about our D? Yes. I like Greg Blache but he hasn't proven he's of the Gregg Williams caliber yet.
This is after watching the first three preseason games. We just have a lot of question marks still. Of course, last night was about as close to live bullets as possible and we bombed. I'm not bailing but I do have major concerns.
Rooster 08-24-2008, 08:43 PM What a mess. The game was encompassed by negative energy from the start as both Channel 9 and Comcast Sports Net had technical difficulties with their production of The Redskins broadcast. To mask these difficulties they decided to inundate us with 15 minutes of straight commercials. After a while, I too started to feel for the endangered Orangutans. Watching 15 minutes of straight commercials is irritating enough. But watching The Redskins get completely dismantled by the Carolina Panthers 47-3 in their fourth, and most important, pre-season game is down right excruciating. When coaches take the time to set up a game plan for an opponent, you don’t expect to lose by 44 points. When you play your best players an entire half, you don’t expect to lose by 44 points. So why the hell did we lose by 44 points?!
There were issues on offense, defense, and special teams but most disturbing was the play of our offensive line. We had none. We might as well have marched the U.S woman’s gymnastics team out onto the field. Jon Jansen cannot play anymore. Period. He is a non factor against the pass rush and only adequate in run support. I actually thought Chris Samuels was the strong point of our line, at least until he was driven back 10 yards into quarterback Jason Campbell.
The quarterback play wasn’t much better. What Jim Zorn calls “inadequate” I call horrendous. Campbell, you have to get rid of the ball. I swear to God if I see one more pump fake I’m gonna lose it. Collins, you waste of a contract you. We could put Marcus Mason in your place but instead we have to watch your statuesque, uncomfortable looking self out there. And Colt is just Colt. A nice preseason novelty. My feelings on Colt are ambiguous. He is not gonna help the Redskins this year and thus should not be talked about from this point on.
Defensively I was awestruck. The product out on the field this evening had absolutely no resemblance to the solid unit that Gregg Williams had showcased only a year ago. In fact, I bet Gregg Williams is having a nice little chuckle right about know. Our defensive line was horrendous against the run. The Panthers had not one, but two long runs straight through the heart of our defense for touchdowns. We need a new safety and a capable corner who can start alongside Shawn Springs. Carlos Rogers continues to struggle when making plays on the ball. If Fred Smoot could play half as well as he could talk, he might be half decent. Dancing after making a tackle when your defense is getting absolutely abused? Are you kidding me?!
As you can see I am quite disappointed in tonight’s performance. While the Skins humiliating performance does not spell certain doom, it does raise a number of questions. The good news is the game does not count against our record. The bad news is this team opens up against the Giants in 12 days. If you thought the Panthers pass rush was scary, wait until our line has to match-up against the likes of Tuck and Umenyiora.
vallin21 08-24-2008, 08:50 PM The QB position will get better just give it time. The defensive Secondary looks weak. I can now say I have absolutley no faith in him. All he is good for is a few hits. He lacks speed and ball skills. Does anyone agree with me?
vaoutlaws2006 08-24-2008, 09:05 PM i hate to call people out but we have two very misinformed members here on the warpath. first of all rooster umenyiora appears to be done for the season and at the worst we wont be seeing him in 12 days. and vallin 21...who are you referring too? got two words for you laron landry. get him back there and things are going to be differnet.
Ruhskins 08-24-2008, 09:19 PM Just a couple of things...
- Campbell has a lot of work to do. He f'ed up yesterday, and good players learn from their mistakes and move on. Collins is not the answer, and neither is Brennan, so everyone get over yourselves and let JC learn from this. Luckily it is the preseason.
- Reed Doughty is an average player, he's not Sean Taylor nor is he Laron Landry. We were fortunate to have an elite Safety tandem last year, but tragically we lost that. Moore and Horton are rookies, and they are not the answer this year, they will be the answer next season. Doughtly looked bad yesterday, but so did all the starters, and we're not going to bench them all (don't answer that).
- Like someone mentioned, I'm glad there are no "this team fought its guts out" quotes from the coaches. I hope they are taking this loss hard, and learning from their mistakes.
- And finally, I think a lot of us (at least I a) are dissappointed b/c we're seeing the same weak offense again. Seriously a lot of us are not expecting a trip to the SB, but I am tired of the anemic offense this team has. I hope they fix this soon.
- Finally, we could be in a worst situation, Taylor could be out for the season like Osi is...so at least we left this game somewhat healthy.

Let me inform you since you dont understand. First I am talking about Reed doughty. Second I never said Landry wouldn't be bad because I knew he would be out. If you didn't realize this Vaoutlaws2006 it takes 2 safties to have a great secondary. ie Sean Taylor Laron Landry last year.
So I have 2 words for you DOESN'T MATTER !!
jgalecpa 08-24-2008, 09:27 PM The QB position will get better just give it time.
My question is : When?
He still has the same QB rating he had when he first walked on the field in 2006.
Virtually no progress, whatsoever.
If anything, he is regressing.
When will he start to get better?
When?
J-Dawg.
NM Redskin 08-24-2008, 09:32 PM but there is absolutely NOTHING positive you can say about any part of that game last night.
Frost avg 51 and had a long of 65. :)

Well hopefully it gets better by having a coach who actually wants to have Campbell in as QB.
