Obama Selects Senator Joe Biden as Running MateMTK 08-25-2008, 02:56 PM Ok, please explain what the party platform is. The four G's lol saden1 08-25-2008, 08:06 PM The four G's lol ...and this: http://mediamattersaction.org/static/img/obamaflowchart_750_03.png That Guy 08-25-2008, 10:16 PM I call it like I see it, Republican platform stinks and the party's base leaves much to be desired. If you disagree, that's your prerogative but don't go and call me ignorant because I find your party to be repulsive. That's my prerogative. i'm calling you ignorant because you assume it's "my" party and you make such ignorant sweeping generalizations while apparently not noticing that the democrats have their own issues. seriously though, it does make your sig even funnier. firstdown 08-25-2008, 10:59 PM ...and this: http://mediamattersaction.org/static/img/obamaflowchart_750_03.png Ok, I get it now you found this on the internet so it must be what the Republicans stand for. Wow, you cant in a few words come up with what you think they stand for without going to the democratic handbook. firstdown 08-25-2008, 11:04 PM For the Democratic caucus and the state of Delaware he's a powerhouse senator. A 30 Year senator who voted against the war is irreplaceable. You can toss in Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd in that category too. These are folks that don't have to cover their own asses like most senators for political gains (i.e. Hillary). Edit: I stand corrected, Biden voted for the war. So what do you think about Biden fighting to make it tougher for individuals to go bankrupt (which was pushed hard by credit card companies) while his son was doing some kind of consulting for them (to the tune of over $500,000). FRPLG 08-25-2008, 11:11 PM How is what his son was doing relevant? saden1 08-26-2008, 01:17 AM i'll calling you ignorant, because you assume it's "my" party and you make such ignorant sweeping generalizations while apparently not noticing that the democrats have their own issues. seriously, though it does make your sig even funnier. Dog, I'm not you and I ain't Fox News. If you got issues with the Democrats spit the out. Don't expect me to wave the confederate flag and pretend to like anything about the Republican party just so you lot can feel good about your "anit-anything-and-everything" party. BTW where does my ignorance lie? Guns, greed, gays and god (4G's as matty)? p.s. I apologies for finding the Republican party disgusting, I can not help myself. Perhaps if I wasn't so ignorant I would be able to smell the rose petals Edit: thanks to SmootSmack spelling skills I was able to fix an egregious error. SmootSmack 08-26-2008, 01:17 AM For those that are actually interested in reading about the parties' platforms, instead of mindless drivel like every Republic hates immigrant and gays, and is all about God and greed, then here is the 2008 Democratic Party Platform http://www.demconvention.com/assets/downloads/2008-Democratic-Platform-by-Cmte-08-13-08.pdf And here are some notes on what is expected to be on the 2008 GOP Platform Washington Times - GOP platform retains abortion-ban plank (http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/aug/25/gop-platform-likely-against-abortion-gay-marriage/) Here is their 2004 Platform http://www.gop.com/images/2004platform.pdf As a Republican, a moderate Republican who is not anti-immigration nor anti-gay (I know. How is that even possible if I'm a registered Republican) I hope that the 2008 platform is substantive and addresses the issues that really matter: economy, foreign policy, education, health care. While I don't agree with everything the Dems present I thought they did a strong job in stating their case. SmootSmack 08-26-2008, 01:34 AM Dog, I'm not you and I ain't Fox News. If you got issues with the Democrats spit the out. Don't expect me to wave the confederate flag and pretend to like anything about the Republican party just so you lot can feel good about your "anit-anything-and-everything" party. BTW where does my ignorance lie? Guns, greed, gays and god (4G's as matty)? p.s. I applogies for finding the Republican party disgusting, I can not help myself. Perhaps if I wasn't so ignorant I would be able to smell the rose peddels. Or at least spell rose petals saden1 08-26-2008, 01:41 AM So what do you think about Biden fighting to make it tougher for individuals to go bankrupt (which was pushed hard by credit card companies) while his son was doing some kind of consulting for them (to the tune of over $500,000). You want this year's platform? You're going to have to wait but in the meantime enjoy these thoughtful and thought provoking questions put forth by RNC (http://www.gopplatform2008.com/RPC_Issues.aspx). Here are some choice questions: Education: Should the No Child Left Behind law be reformed, and how? Is there a problem with too much ideological dogmatism in higher education? How should the federal government respond to colleges and universities that insist upon discriminating against the United States military? Do you support homeschooling and school choice? Energy: What role should oil, natural gas, and coal play in our energy future? What about clean fuels such as nuclear, solar, and wind power? Given high gas prices, should the gas tax be repealed or should it be increased in order to discourage people from driving cars? Do you believe that higher gas prices are good for the nation as the New York Times recently said? Health Care: Would more government control improve the quality of care, your relationship with your doctor, or the prospects for new breakthrough cures? Should our nation be looking more towards Canada and England as models for health care reform, or can we find an American solution that relies on innovation, free market competition, and a focus on individual patients? Economy: Do you agree with the other party's position that taxes should be increased and that one of the key purposes of tax policy is to redistribute the wealth of the American people to politically favored groups? How should our tax system be reformed? You may have opinions on how best to create new jobs and keep existing ones from going overseas. What role does wasteful Washington spending play, and how can waste be cured? Do you support increased international trade? judiciary: How serious is the problem of judicial activism, and what can Republicans do to address it? Should judicial nominees be required to support the Second Amendment? How should the Senate treat judicial nominees who are determined to insert their personal views into the Constitution? Do you support judicial nominees like John Roberts and Sam Alito? Should a President insist on knowing exactly how a nominee will rule before he makes a nomination? Do you agree with the Supreme Court's decision giving legal rights to unlawful enemy combatants in Guantanamo Bay? What about the recent decision holding that a child rapist cannot be executed under the 8th Amendment? Past decisions on abortion? |
