Even if Barrow doesnt take a snap until week one, he'll still start. Williams is very impressed with him and his leadership. He said Barrow is at everypractice by his side leraning the system and the plays, and he has full confidence hes a vetern and will be able to step right it.
most importantly though, hes a Cane, lol

who would start in Barrow's place? K Mitch or A Pier?
Mitchell, a Harrisburg High grad by the way, plays the middle.

With five preseason games, I think Barrow missing these early games is a non-issue. He's a veteran and has played in the defense before. LaVar seems pretty comfortable in the defense, and he'll be ready when the games start up for real.
This just gives us a chance to really solidify our depth.

The most important thing for these guys is to get healthy. Why risk it on the turf in SL?

Pierce started in the middle on Saturday, so I'm assuming that he has the upperhand for now. They seem to like his athleticism (speed) in the middle.

Here's a little article that JWSleep posted in the newsroom about Pierce.

It isn't necessary for either Barrow or Arrington to play in the preseason if it means risking further injury. Of far greater importance is their ability to get on the field at 100% health come September 12th. I'd rather have a rusty, but healthy, Barrow and Arrington on the field for half the plays for a game, rather than push them out there in the preseason and risk not having them for multiple regular season games or possibly the entire season.
Let them get as healthy as possible, and in the meantime, give guys like Pierce, Smith, Campbell and Mitchell the opportunity to improve themselves, play with the starters for a while, and learn the system on the fly while the games don't count.
All of those guys, particularly Pierce, have shown some promise, and this is a great opportunity for Williams to get a more complete sense of what his backups' strengths and weaknesses are, so that he will know what kind of adjustments he needs to make if a starter goes down in the regular season.

Pierce would take Burrow's place and Mitchell would take Lavar's. I believe in both of them.

Pierce is just starting to try at middle, Mitchell was always middle. Pierce is faster, so thats why they are trying him at middle, but god forbid both LaVar and Barrow need time, i think Mitchell would stay middle and Pierce weakside.
