http://assets.espn.go.com/i/teamlogos/nfl/sml/trans/nwe.gifThe New England Patriots (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=nwe) signed veteran cornerback Ade Jimoh (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5011) on Wednesday to bolster a position that has been depleted by injuries and free agent losses.
Jimoh played four seasons with the Washington Redskins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=was) after being signed in 2003 as a rookie free agent. He signed with the Chicago Bears (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=chi) in 2007, but was placed on the injured reserve list in November with a broken collarbone.
The 6-foot-1, 187-pounder has 28 career tackles and 68 special teams tackles.
Cornerbacks Ellis Hobbs (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8498), Jason Webster (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2179), Mike Richardson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10645) and Jonathan Wilhite (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=11376) all sat out the Patriots' first preseason game last week. The team lost Pro Bowler Asante Samuel (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4578) and Randall Gay (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5887) to free agency.
To make room for Jimoh on the roster, the Patriots released offensive lineman Pete McMahon (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8628).
