FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Redskins happy to avoid media hype for once (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8442428/Redskins-happy-to-avoid-media-hype-for-once)

The franchise returns almost all the key components from a roster that made the playoffs in 2007. Yet in a division featuring the defending Super Bowl champion (New York Giants) and the conference favorite for this year's title game (Dallas), the Redskins are considered an NFC East afterthought. Oddsmakers have even installed Washington as a bigger underdog to reach Super Bowl XLIII than Philadelphia.

That suits the Redskins just fine.

He repeatedly refers to Chris Samuels as "Chris Samuel".

I like flying under the radar. That's why steal bombers are so effective..lol

I will say this. I dont know what we are going to be ranked in the NFC. But it definitely wont be last.

Two things I am predicting though. The Giants are going to fall off. I think they got hot last season. But their defensive leader and team leader is gone in Strahan. They ahve overhauled their defense and not for the better. How can you let the players that help you win a Superbowl go on defense. Then they let Shockey go. Boss or Voss whatever his name is was a good back-up but he is not Shockey. I dont think Manning can lead this team by himself. People respect him but probably not as much as they respected Strahan.

That being said. I have them and the Eagles fighting for the last spot in the NFC East and maybe a Wild Card birth.

The Eagles: As long as McNabb is healthy they should have a good year. they fnished pretty strong last year. But Westbrook is their only threat..which is a good one..But you need more than that..Curtis will play decent..and Desean Jackson will meet Dirty 30. Also Desean may be a good player but I dont think he is a difference maker. I think Asante Samuels will get burnt by our WRs.

So that leaves us and Dallas. I really see both teams going around 11-5 give or take a game. If our defense is solid and JC stays healthy..I see no way we couldn't reach 11-5. Probably will split out NFC East games and take a lost to two or three teams..Giving our tough schedule..I think that it wont be easy. But if we get on a roll early. It will be easier for us to make the playoffs since the most of our remaing in games are at home.

BUT..nothing is a give in. But I feel Zorn is a solid coach and very intelligent and eventhough its the preseason I see less penalties and better execution. The only thing we have to do is stay healthy and focused and we will be ok.

Currently, I feel injuries will tell the tale of the NFC East. Whoever takes more critical injuries the farther they'll fall. I don't understand the Eagles hype. When was the last time McHurt played 16 games?

I still don't understand the media hype on Philly...they have no #1 WR and McNabb's health is a gamble. Oh well, I do like the lack of hype for us...the last time our team was considered a SB favorite, we went 5-11.

Its a great thing. I think we are looking really good but the first 5 games are going to mean a lot in our season. By week 6 we (and everyone else) should know basically where we stand in this division.

I wouldn't be so quick to write off the Giants. Unless Manning has a slump they have all the tools to be a force again this season. People say we're flying under the radar, but according to everything I've heard, the Giants have already crashed and burned.

The football world has fallen in love with the Cowchips in the NFC East this year, so NY already feels like they have something to prove -- and that's going to be one pissed off team on Sept. 4th.

Samuels , Kendall , Rahbach , Thomas , Jansen , Cooley < TE > . If that line is one of the three best , we will be very tough to beat . Along with Sellers and Yoder we could be dominant in the running game . Montgomery, Griffen , Golston could be the best DT rotation we have had in years , that would make Taylor and Carter even more effective . Should DE'S , Wilson / James / Evans make an impact along with the returns of Rocky and Rogers we should have a top 5 Defense . NO INJURIES !!!!!

Those 3 are serviceable at best. Griffin is on the downside of his career and neither Golston or Montgomery have established themselves as dominate in any way. I could be proved wrong if the ends have really good years. The double teams will be on Taylor and Carter and that leaves the tackles in one on one situations or the other team has to keep in backs and TEs to block. Thebest scenario as you pointed out is NO INJURIES! If either one of our stud DEs goes down that opens up so much more for the other teams O.
