Getting excited over swimming...the French trash talking (http://www.gambling911.com/sports/alain-bernard-believes-french-can-%E2%80%9Csmash-us%E2%80%9D-olympics-081008.html) in the 400 relay and then getting their ass handed to them. I love it. If you haven't seen the race check it out here (http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/player.html?assetid=0811_HD_SWB_HL_L0194) (you'll need MS Silverlight plugin).

One of the best races I've seen. My roommate and I were just about as pumped as Phelps. So nice to see the French eat their words.

When was the last time you can remember someone in the Olympics talking smack. I'm sure its been done but I cannot rember anyone doing this but like that French swimmer or coach said "the US only won by a finger tip". Duh, just about all events are won by a finger tip, few 100th's of a sec., by fractions of a point. I'm guessing thats one of the reasons the US team was so pumped to win that race.

There's always Olympic smack (i.e. US Basketball team in 2004 (http://www.kansascity.com/180/story/741331.html) and now (http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1819129_1819134_1819135,00.html)). I don't mind the smack, it gives the games some excitement, especially when it results in the French getting a pie in their face.

Then came the calamity of 2004 in Athens. First, numerous top NBA players refused to play. Second, several U.S. players arrogantly guaranteed gold and the continuation of American dominance — these weren’t even guarantees, they were statements, as if they could not even imagine another country being good enough to beat them. Third, those other countries now had their own NBA stars. Yes, this was going to be a very different tournament.

Man that race was incredible, I know I'm a couple days late, but my gosh that was awsome....and how about Michael Phelps...this kid is really unbelivable.. he's gone 5 for 5 so far, and could possibly have 8 in one olympics? 8 freaking gold medals...they mine as well just put him out there for anything he's probaboly good enough to win.

I wish I could get into the Olympics. Here's how disinterested I am: During the opening night ceremonies, I was watching the Eagles/Steelers preseason game.

If the Olympics went bye-bye forever, I'd be fine with that.

While the Olympics have lost some traction with sports fans of this generation, I feel like every American should be proud of what Michael Phelps has done so far.

Before they started, I figured to catch things here and there. Well, the Olympics have caught me by the short and curlies. My wife and I have watched every night, and I catch some stuff in the morning before heading to work. It's addicting...

Michael Phelps is a machine. 5 gold medals, 5 world records and counting. It's incredible.
