now, these are subject to change and we should give these guys a full preseason, but right now some guys just don't look like they're worth having around.

Broughton - mason is better at RB, and we can throw a TE at FB if needed (or just call the guy up since he'll probably be free) - two years now and nothing special.
Westbrook - very unimpressive... i mean torrence proved he definitely isn't a stater (again) last night, but westbrook didn't even look like depth.
devine - he won't make the team, colt's a good #3.
cedrick holt (CB) - just looked bad.
anthony mix/maurice mann - showed nothing, looked bad. mcmullen pretty much beat all comers on big WR depth guy.

btw, justin hamilton looked decent last night - good enough to stick around a couple more games at least. tryon looked a little better than the HoF game...

guys that weren't big names to begin with that haven't done anything to change that:
DE Huntley, Kevin (http://redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=1209)
DT Oshinowo, Babatunde (http://redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=6345)
DT Askew, Matthias (http://redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=120)
RB Shelton, Eric (http://redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=237)
DB Ghee, Patrick (http://redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=7703)
TE Goode, Jason (http://redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=1743)
WR Gant, Horace (http://redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=337)
WR Toler, Burl (http://redskins.com/team/profile.jsp?id=2694)

I don't know what's happening with the LB/OL backups, and at punter, one's getting dumped (probably frost)... we'll cut 3-4 OL guys (probably 3 due to the age of the starters) and we'll dump 2-3 LBs, but my guess is we'll also sign some veteran cuts there since that depth is terrible right now.

so that's 17 for sure cuts (including 1 unnamed punter and 3 unnamed OL backups) which gets you down to 63 pretty fast.

as for the last 10
1 unnamed LB (PS)
CB tryon (PS)
CB richardson (PS)
DT boschetti
1 unnamed DE (wilson to PS? james to IR? jackson to PS?)
S hamilton (PS)

the last 4 are hard... you have 5 S, 10 OL, 8 LB, 4 RB, and 6 WR, which are all 1 more than necessary, but include some teamers (fox/thrash/etc)...

this was a lot easier last year...

Derek Devine sealed his fate by missing the wide open Broughton in the endzone on 4th down. I bet he didn't sleep a wink last night.

Leigh Torrence continues to get beat, as does Tryon, and a lot of passes seem to connect around Byron Westbrook. Nobody's really standing out among these three. If you had to pick a leader here, I guess it's Tryon. I guess.

Matt Sinclair (LB, #58) seems to be a part of a lot of tackles. He might squeeze through.

By my count, McMullen is leading Mix right now.

I think McMullen looks way ahead of others at WR right now. Granted he is getting open against scrubs but at least he is getting open.

I would like to see McMullen and Mason get some reps with the 1st team next week, maybe second possession.

McMullen has to sty he will be a decent wr for us. Think about it he already has tons of experience in the west coast offense and the guy is 6'4''. We wukk have a pretty good wr corp here than last year. I believe that our wrs are much better than seahawks.

I am kinda of suprised, that people are so down on Tryon and Torrence. The Bills only had 173 yards passing and both of them played the whole game. Both of them are going to make the team. Corners are going to get beat. Byron Westbrook will probably make the team, also. I think that they are going to keep six db's and four saftey's(Landry, Doughty, Moore, and Fox or Horton. Thats why they are using Springs at saftey so they only have to keep four saftey's, thats my theory.

Sure, all corners are going to be beaten. One of the things you look for is who they're matching up against, and who beats them. Leigh Torrence is particularly troubling. This is a third-year veteran who was actually called upon in the regular season last year. So he's not just training camp fodder. He was beaten by a rookie second round pick for a touchdown last night.

Some might say, 'no big deal, it happens to everybody.' But that's a play Torrence has to win. I suppose I'm willing to give Tryon more of a pass because he's just out of college.

Bottom line is that the guys competing for the nickel corner position so far haven't done much to make a case for themselves.

Ok, help me out here. I thought last week some of you were praising either Torrence or Tryon during the game? I know one was bad but the other seemed to be doing great which was a supprise to some. Perhaps I'm wrong. I'm leaning towards Torrence. I think Tryon just sucked last week and some of you were saying how Torrence looked better then last yr.

If I was on something last week just remind me what it was and I'll stop. lol.
