If they're paying him that much I guess that means he's starting. I guess it also means that the guy from BYU is history.

I can not believe the dolphins signed him, especially that much money and to be a starter, why not go after Favre if you wanted a qb? I've always liked Pennington, but I thought with his noodle arm that he would have been lucky to find a backup job somewhere, boy was I wrongFavre is exactly who you don't want in a rebuilding effort. Pennington can accellerate the effort more than Josh McCown would. He's not high profile enough to block Chad Henne's development. Favre seems to block everyones development.

The other thing, is that Pennington came free of picks and at a price the Dolphins set. Favre would have cost a pick, and Parcells likely didn't want to deal with the sideshow. He never does.

My wife is so freaking pissed at the dolphins right now. She used to always say, "at least they still have my other husbands (Thomas, Taylor) on the team". Now they are both gone, and they are getting Pennington for a QB. I'm going to love football season this year!!! HTTR

The money is commensurate with what middling starting qb's get. You know, I never get it when people freak about teams "overpaying" when they are under the cap. Are people really that concerned about the owners' money? Because with a short term, no risk deal like this, which will never really impact the salary cap, that is the only real consideration.

I guess you can remove any deep routes or hail marys from their playbook.
But in all seriousness, this is actually a good pickup for them. He gives them a better chance to succeed than any other qb on their roster.

besides ditching taylor, they really have... great draft (henne, long, merling, etc), and they signed a ton of depth/solid starter types (very cheaply)...

i mean, they won't be great, but they are a better team.

Pennington is a major upgrade of all the stiffs Miami started at qback last season. even with a noodle arm, and injury issues. to me, money well spent

Good move by the Dolphins. They needed somebody, because Beck, Henne, and McCown aren't going to be doing anything special this season, not that Pennington will but he's an upgrade.

Agreed, Pennington is a huge upgrade given the QB situation in Miami. This is a good move that Parcells made, and it gives Henne time to develop. Maybe the AFC East won't be so crappy this year.
