I love Mason's speed and slitherin style, I hope they keep both. This battle will last throught out the exhibiton season, if Mason shows this on a consistent basis then find a place for him, make a roster spot.

good question. I think because rock brings a good kick return, and great st'er overall, he'll take up any questionable roster spot. mason has shined every time he's had a shot, though. I think he may have a chance to be a great backup, and if we had someone that could return kicks and cover like rock, it may be considered.

trading betts... i don't know if we could get enough value for him. he's a good running back, but i don't know if anyone would give up a second for him...

speaking of betts what is up with the linebacker Alfred Fincher having the same #46 as betts?

The way I worked it out we could easily carry 4 RB's on the roster (keep in mind I don't know how the ST units are put together outside of the K, P, and LS) but it's definately possible.

Edit: Shit I forgot it's a 53 man roster, not 55. Italics denote guys I cut after the fabled 55 man roster.

Offense (in no particular order) - 25 Players
QB
J. Campbell, T. Collins, C. Brennan
RB
C. Portis, L. Betts, R. Cartwright, M. Mason
FB
M. Sellers
WR
S. Moss, ARE, J. Thrash, M. Kelly, D. Thomas, A. Mix
TE
C. Cooley, F. Davis, T. Yoder
OL
J. Jansen, C. Samuals, S. Heyer, J. Fabini, P. Kendall, R. Thomas, C. Rhinehart, C. Rabach

Defense (in no particular order) - 25 Players
DT
C. Griffin, A. Montgomery, L. Alexander, K. Golston
DE
J. Taylor, A. Carter, C. Wilson, D. Evans, E. James
LB
M. Washington, R. McIntosh, K. Campbell, M. Sinclair, L. Fletcher, H. Blades
CB
S. Springs, F. Smoot, J. Tryon, C. Rogers, L. Torrence
S
R. Doughty, C. Horton, L. Landry, K. Moore, V. Fox

K/P/LS - 3 Players
S. Shuisam, D. Brooks, E. Albright

Practice Squad
Maurice Mann (WR), B. Westbrook (CB), Nemo (FB), C. Gatewood (LB), A. Crummey (C/G), R. Jackson (DE), Martell Richardson (CB)

Possible Midseason Callbacks Due to Injury
M. Askew (DT), R. Boschetti (DT), Billy McMullen (WR), Jason Goode (TE),

So as you can see it's very possible for Mason to win a roster spot. Also in this scenario Wade and Askew got cut so those are two that could easily change some time during the year. Boschetti also gets cut.

No way they keep six wideouts -- there'll be five at most, and then one would be inactive every week. I believe the rule of thumb is to keep 9 or 10 offensive linemen. That means Mix is gone, unless he can unseat Thrash. I don't see that happening.

Nemo can't be on the practice squad anymore since this is his third year.

I think they'll also need one more fullback behind Sellers. That makes Mason the odd man out.

This is a bit tough...I must say that Rock has the advantage b/c of his return skills. I do hope he improves over the next preseason games.

They don't have enough numbers so some players have to share because we haven't made our cuts yet.

Mason looked good last night. But Rock just can contribute more to the team.

Mason has to step it up on special teams.
