Anyone ever been to fan apperciation day? Is it worth going? I am sure it is crazy crowded, but is it impossible to get any autographs? Is it easier? Just wondering if it is worth the 3 hour and 30 minute drive.

I actually planned my day to be there BEFORE fan appeciation day thinking I'd get a good spot on the rail.... and take a look a my pics... it was good plan.

Most days like those are so crowded you just can't get your shot. Think ahead!

fan day is a terrible time to go... the crowds swell and it's much harder to get a look at what's going on.

You should probably go on a day other than Fan Appreciation Day. I went back in '05 and while it wasn't completely horrible, I couldn't see anything due to crowds near 15,000 people. The autograph signing sessions isn't worth the wait either, all of the big name players' lines fill up quickly, whereas if you go to the less crowded tables you have a chance to get a lot of autographs. When I went my parents went to the lesser known players' tables while I got into Lavar's line, and I ended up standing the entire time in Lavar's line while my parents got multiple autographs, including Chris Samuels', Jon Jansen's, Shawn Springs', Marcus Washington's, amongst others.

Great photos looks like you two had a great time. Makes me sorry i live over 300 miles away from ashburn. I'd stay away from fan appreciation day too...the parking was horrendous but outside of that i guess it wasnt too bad.

Thanks for the good advice, this will actually be the first time I have gone to one of these, and I know its gonna be a crowd, but I think its worth it to see the new O in action during the scrimmage. I just pray Landry dosen't kill any of our new recievers! SO EXCITED!

The redskin site states that there would be no formal autgraph signing so I assumed there would be no tables. Last year at training camp i got some good autographs, but I really Really want Clinton Portis to sign my throwback jersey so I can hang on my wall in my redskin room. I also really want Cooley and jason Campbell to sign pictures I took of them last year and had blown up to hang up. I got Marcus Washington to sign his last year (well I had my kids do it he was more willing to sign for them) and complemented on the collage of photos...

I would make the trip if I knew I had a good oppurtunity to get Clinton Portis's autograph, plus my kids (8 and 10) are getting ready for football and I would love for them to experience the practice and meet a few players again like last year...

So I went to TC practice today and overall it was solid but not spectacular. Originally I planned to go during the week, but then my sister said she wanted to go too so I said ok, we'll wait until Sunday when you don't have to work and you can make it. So she invited her friend, and it turns out her friend's uncle is Bubba Tyer, and he apparantly hooked her and my sister up with a couple VIP passes.

Well I thought it wasn't a big deal cuz I heard about the VIP passes they were giving out for old lottery tickets, so we get to camp about 6:45 today and they get their actual Redskins VIP passes, and then once we get inside I go to the Virginia Lottery tent and they give me a wristband that is not a VIP pass at all, it's just so you can go to this secluded area at the far end of the field.

So my sister and her friend, being girls and all, decide to go by themselves to the VIP area and hang out there. So I took up a spot by myself on the fence where all the players usually sign autographs as they are walking up from the end of practice. In hindsight I shouldn't have bothered staking my claim in the autograph area, I should've just gone to that little Virginia Lottery secluded VIP area and taken pictures. Well I stand in my spot until the time practice ends, and then it just so turns out that nobody on the team wants to do autographs except for maybe five players, who were, Jason Goode, H.B. Blades (I got his), Cory Raymer, Burl Toler (I got his too), and an unidentified white guy who I thought was either Derrick Frost or Durant Brooks, but they were signing the VIP's stuff so I never got a good look at them.

The highlight of my day was seeing Matt Terl (sp?), the official blogger of the 'Skins, and I was like, hey are you Matt Terl, the official blogger for the Redskins? And he was like, yeah I am, hi!, and I was like, I read your blog, I'm one of the guys who actually likes it, and he was like, thanks man, and that was it.

I left about 10:20ish, I saw Santana Moss and Marcus Washington walk by, Marcus was signing autographs but he passed by my section of the fence, and then once he left there was pretty much nobody there so I decided it was time to go.

I might go again tomorrow, although I'm extremely low on cash because I spent what was left of my money buying a new ball (33 bucks? Seriously? lol) so I could get something autographed. All in all though I was pretty happy just to be back at Redskins Park and seeing the guys in action, well it's better than nothing, and I'm glad I made it out there.

Glad you went and had an ok time even if you didn't get a bunch of autographs. It is hit or miss with the players. You just never know if they are going to sign. That is why my day at camp was just so unbeilvable!
