Someone explain to me what Reed has done to deserve all of this support as a Starting caliber Safety in SIX GAMES!! Lets be realistic guys Doughty was the starter due to lack of quality depth. There was no one behind Taylor and Landry when he got injured so they were forced to play Reed. I dont know what you people see in Reed Doughty. He's nothing more than a backup. You guys are really overhyping Doughty and his skills

I agree with most of what you say here, but lets also give the young man a chance to prove us wrong. I wouldn't be shocked if next year in the draft or if by the way of free agency the Skins try to get another piece at the Safety position. If Reed does well, I will be the first person on here to say so, but we need some big time help for next season if we loose old man Springs, and anyother bad omens happen to the DB's.

I agree i just think Reed Doughty is being overhyped in 6 games

Does being happy for someone & rooting for them constitute "overhyping" them? Other than someone that said he's been a "stud" most here are just happy for him, which is cool, cause he's had his trials here. I'm rooting for him too, and I would love it if he maintains the job in spite of tough competition.

However, he's not much if not avg. in coverage & I could easily see someone taking his starting job. They drafted 2 safeties & picked up another fa, so at the least they've been concerned about depth at the position, but they've also brought in competition for his job.

Damn, what's with ppl being moody up in here. So we're rooting for a guy who coaches and player like, plus someone who went through some tough personal times. Come on people, lighten up. Save the moodiness to bash the Cowboys, ok? LOL.

You hit the nail on the head with this post. I like Reed, he is an easy guy to root for, but to me he is nothing more than a special teams ace/run stopping safety. I know everyone on this board loves him and the coaches/players rave about him, but I am not ready to buy into the hype just yet. I want to watch Reed play one more season before I anoint him as a legit starting SS in this leauge.

If you read what i wrote i mention that he was playing at a high level due to the death. Also that i hope he wasn't playing over his head because theres recievers in our league who will torch us. He started what 5-6 games and ended what 50 tackles by what stat u say. due the math avg 9 tackles a game will leave him with 144 tackles by season end!!IF HE HAPPENED TO KEEP THAT PACE AND WITHOUT INJURY OF COURSE ;). Thats Stud caliber with those numbers. I know you love and miss Sean. And to think of another player in his spot is like cheating on your wife by looking at the hot hostess. But the boy got game whether its run stopping or defending the pass.

First of all I don't want one of our safeties making 144 tackles. If Reed is making 144 tackles then there is something seriously wrong with our D-line and LB's. You don't consider a safety a stud by how many tackles he has. Like I said I want to watch Reed for one more year before I decide if he's legit at SS for us, but I do have my doubts.

I am done debating on this thread everyone, and since I am not able to start my own thread (I think unless I am stupid) the Skins website reports that Springs will be helping out at Safety, which I think shows what they think of Reed, and sorry prinzeofmoval but numbers can't be projected like that. Grumpy drunk tonight!

Springs is probably helping out more so right now because Landry was out briefly with a minor injury (I believe)

And you should be able to start your own thread...ask Greg Novis

today's washpost - washingtonpost.com (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/25/AR2008072503101.html) -

reports that Schweigert will be competing for a spot at SS. Haven't heard anything about Horton or where they think Moore will play once he's in practice.

Before I start to dogg Reed for his play I will watch the preseason and see how he does there. If he does good I will be the first to say i was wrong. [B]But[B]I think the FO is not confident in Reed especially when they draft two safties and sign another in FA.
