But Al Gore preaching to us about the environment is like having an alcoholic preaching " Don't drink and Drive " .

That's simply you trying to justify to yourself why it's OK to turn a blind eye to the energy crisis.

If he somehow diminishes the cause, then you're not focusing hard enough on the message.

Forget what Gore does for a second with the lights in his house or the fuel in his jets. Wipe it from your brain.

Do you think:

- The US should use more wind power?
- More clean nuclear power?
- Develop hydrogen fuel cells, electric cars, etc?
- Import less oil from other countries?
- Drive the price of gas and electricity down using these market forces?

Nobody cares what you think of Al Gore. The question is do you think this is a good plan? I'd love to hear a reason why not.

Absolutely I think it's a good plan. I thought I made that clear with other comments. If I haven't, I apologize.

My point about him diminishing the cause is not about me personally, I already made comments about how I have gone more green, it's about the people that will be turned off by his comments thus making his paramount message much less relevant with society. It's a shame someone more honest, trustworthy, and reputable hasn't stood up to be the spokesperson for going green.

All in all, the message is great, it just doesn't have the teeth I wish it did.

Although I do think it's funny that his plan is basically the same thing that Pickens came out with a couple weeks ago. It was as if Gore was like "shit, dude's stealing my thunder, I better issue a challenge... I know, I'll call it a GREEN CHALLENGE!"

He's a goofy guy. But it doesn't change the fact that he's 100% right about the proper course of action.

How about T. Boone Pickens? He basically laid out the same plan (http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/science/07/08/pickens.plan/index.html)as Gore two weeks ago.

Republicans can choose to listen to Pickens. Democrats can choose to listen to Gore. If people want to go down that childish road, whatever. As long as they're getting the message from somebody.

Thanks for the link, I did not know that.

I agree.

Yet again I agree.

Please keep in mind, i am absolutely listening to the message regardless of the messanger...I feel that was lost throughout the comments here.

That's good. It's just frustrating to hear people let themselves get distracted from an issue that costs us all so much real money out of our pockets. Nobody should care whether Al Gore's a hypocrite when he's laying out a plan that could ultimately save each American household $2000 a year or more.

Would you like a $2000 raise? (rhetorical directed at everyone, not you Jsarno) I know I would. And hell, if I need to watch Al Gore on TV every single night on the news to get it, it's worth it.

I have changed my driving habits big time. I rarely go over the speed limit going to work and on the way home I will drive about 50 miles per hour. I get passed by everybody but I am saving. I also accelerate slowly. I don't get past 2 on the tact odometer when going the speed I am going to get up to. A tank use to last about 5 to 7 days. Now I can go for about 9 or 10 days.

I understand. That was my point about him being the spokesperson, whether we like it or not, the message is going to be lost with MANY people because of who Gore is. It's unfortunate.

Just an FYI, if you had to watch him 1 hour a day every day for a year, that would mean in order to get the $2000 you'd be making only $5.48 an hour. Not sure listening to him for 365 hours a year is worth 2 grand. But that's just me. :D

Whoa whoa, let's not go crazy here. I was thinking like a 5 or 10 minute segment, not a full hour! I think I'd need a good 10 grand for that!

LOL

Can anyone else's voice put you to sleep so quickly? Worst... monotone... ever.
