ProFootballTalk.com - FAVRE TO THE REDSKINS? (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/07/15/favre-to-the-redskins/)
BleedBurgundy 07-15-2008, 05:34 PM There's no way. After an offseason exemplifying restraint, why would we do this? it would be a zero-confidence vote on JC, we'd murder our cap to clear the space (correct me if I'm wrong Schneed, Canuck, et al.), it'd be a huge experiment for a first year and first time head coach to take on... This is just the residual rep from past Snyder spending sprees rearing it's ugly head, brought up by unimaginitive rumor mongering at PFT.
sandtrapjack 07-15-2008, 05:44 PM Giantone, I am aghast, shocked and dismayed that you would lend ANY credence to ANYTHING coming off of ProFootballTalk.com. I've read better crap in the super market check-out line.
That site is the sports writers equivalant of the National Enquirer.
By the end of training camps, they will have Bigfoot playing Defensive End for the Jets.
And please...a first round draft pick for a guy that will probably announce his retirement AGAIN next March!

You're absolutely right of course. Just look at the source cited by PFT
"A reader tells us that WFAN’s Mike Francesa said earlier this afternoon that the Packers could be trading quarterback Brett Favre to the Carolina Panthers or the Washington Redskins (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/07/15/favre-to-the-redskins/#) for a conditional first-round draft pick."
So, second hand, they heard that a radio personality in New York City says the Packers will make the trade. Probably some caller asked the guys opinion and he suggested that the Redskins or Panthers would make a good landing spot.
Um yeah, not gonna happen
DIRTEE 07-15-2008, 06:24 PM Instead of BS'ing with Favre, would be nice to pick Jimmy Williams, CB.
SkinzzFan 07-15-2008, 06:29 PM ProFootballTalk.com is comparable to "The Enquirer". I hear Bill Parcells is from the planet "Mantittya" and Gus Frerotte was trying to exorcise Martians from eating his brain thus the head-butting incident.
Seriously, PFT has very little credibility in my opinion (and many of yours from what I've read in the past). This is purely speculative fodder during a period in the off-season when there is very little to report.
I know Danny Boy has made some seriously stupid decisions (Spurrier, Deion, Weurfel, & J. George to name a few) but I just don't see the Skins clearing a ton of cap space to make this move. Especially with Campbell being so close to turning into the QB they envisioned when they drafted him.
HAIL!!
SmootSmack 07-15-2008, 06:37 PM PFT isn't awful, problem is they throw anything and everything up there so they lose whatever credibility they have when they do that.
wilsowilso 07-15-2008, 06:37 PM Instead of BS'ing with Favre, would be nice to pick Jimmy Williams, CB.
Why would we be interested in that fool?
Dirtbag59 07-15-2008, 06:51 PM "Jim Zorn is the new coach of the Redskins, and he’ll be using a version of the West Coast offense. Favre has been running the West Coast offense for his entire career.
Also, Redskins owner Dan Snyder has a history of targeting big-name players, and of giving up draft picks to get them. Given that franchise quarterbacks (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/07/15/favre-to-the-redskins/#) rarely if ever are available via trade or otherwise, perhaps Snyder and the ‘Skins won’t be able to resist."
Circumstantial, you're case will never stick PFT! I OBJECT
Can't believe they've gotten this bad at reporting. I mean I enjoy rumors, but at least give me a rumor with substance.
