Disturbing story:

City hospital officials agreed in court Tuesday to implement reforms at a psychiatric ward where surveillance footage showed a woman falling from her chair, writhing on the floor and dying as workers failed to help for more than an hour.

That is awful. And for her to be there almost 24 hours and not be seen is just as bad...

That cop deserves to, at the very least, be suspended without pay for a long time. He might not have violated the law, but that kind of indifference shows that he is probably unfit to wear a uniform.

You've gotta feel for the family that has to watch that knowing their loved one was literally lying there dying and nobody did anything to help.

This is just about the most despicable thing I've seen in years. I was listening to CNNradio on XM in the car yesterday, and they had a very informative take on the situation. Apparently it happened in the psychiatric ward of a hospital which was already in the process of being sued for negligence. Also, there is a check-in counter just off camera less that FOUR FEET away from where she collapsed. And yet they let that woman die. A psych ward is supposed to help these people, yet their own patients are treated like 2nd class citizens or worse. Then, once she died, the hospital straight up lied on the incident report to try to cover their ass. When caught in the lie, their withdrawal was SO lame. This is situation is unbelievably f-ed. Some of the experts on CNN said this hospital is basically at the mercy of the federal judge assigned to the case. I hope he crushes them.

SGG, I really think that the cop in this case is probably a rent a cop, not that that matters.

I know a lot of people hate State / American Civil Liberty Unions. I don't agree with all of the cases the ACLU/etc accepts, but it's good to see someone's there to put these bitches in a world of hurt for their negligence.

What a sick situation. I feel for the family of that woman, I hope that hospital gets some serious changes made to it because that's about as low class as it gets.
