Bottom line, if Favre shows up it get's real messy. As long as he stays away, at least the Pack can manage the PR a little better. He's already been a headache and he hasn't even laced up his cleats!
Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)12thMan 07-28-2008, 05:26 PM Bottom line, if Favre shows up it get's real messy. Warren85Ellard 07-28-2008, 05:40 PM LOL.............not even close, why release him for free?Get something for him ,I'm glad they called his bluff....hell let him show up and sit.No team wants a trade in their own divison.........just ask Gibbs about O.J Anderson? Ottis Anderson went to the Giants from St. Louis. Were the Skins interested or something? They had George Rogers......I'm just wondering what you meant. skinsfan69 07-28-2008, 05:55 PM LOL.............not even close, why release him for free?Get something for him ,I'm glad they called his bluff....hell let him show up and sit.No team wants a trade in their own divison.........just ask Gibbs about O.J Anderson? I understand about trading within the division. But who's going to give up any value for Farve at this point? Do you honestly think Farve can push Minn. over the top? He's had no work with the wr's, no work with the offense, I'm sure there is some learning curve...plus Minn has no wr's to begin with. I just don't see Farve repeating his performace of last year in a Minn. uniform. And I don't think he'd even go to Chi. cause their offense is going to be awful. riggins44 07-28-2008, 06:03 PM This has turned in a nightmare for the Packer fans. Talked with a lady that works for me, which she was raised just outside Green Bay. She said everyone back home is tired of this and wants Favre to just shut up. Sounds like he doesn't have all the fan support we may be led to think. GTripp0012 07-28-2008, 06:03 PM I think the only place where Thompson is wrong is that he isn't working harder to convince Favre to return to the Packers as Aaron Rodgers backup. As the no. 2 guy behind Rodgers, Favre could be an asset to the Packers, as opposed to a hinderence. If Favre isn't willing to take a backseat to the team's future (and he almost certainly isn't), then he's only hurting his own image. But Thompson isn't cornering Brett in the same way Brett is trying to corner Ted Thompson, so these two sides will continue to get nowhere. 12thMan 07-28-2008, 06:07 PM I understand about trading within the division. Whether it's Minni, Chigaco, or wherever, Favre is going to have to learn a new offense. And if that's the case, everyone's already started training camp. So when will he get this new playbook. The only and best fit for him is --- Green Bay! sancho2613 07-28-2008, 10:02 PM This has turned in a nightmare for the Packer fans. Talked with a lady that works for me, which she was raised just outside Green Bay. She said everyone back home is tired of this and wants Favre to just shut up. Sounds like he doesn't have all the fan support we may be led to think. We'll see how those Packers fans that want him to shut up feel if Aaron Rodgers has a horrible season (which i hope he doesn't of course) They might wish we have of let our best QB play his last year or two with a real shot at getting to the Superbowl instead of putting all their support towards a QB who's never had a start before (but still manages to get injured somehow) skinsfan69 07-29-2008, 10:24 AM I want Farve to show up cause that will speed up the process. I think that might increase his chances of getting released. riggins44 07-29-2008, 10:52 AM I really feel bad for Packer fans. Always respected them and their team loyalty. This PR fiasco in reality hurts them more than anyone. Soup's Uncle 07-29-2008, 11:01 AM Yeah if I was forced to root for anohter NFL team aside from my beloved Skins, it would be the Packers. This sucks for them. Brett Favre should just report to camp and play his butt off. He'll most definitley out perform Rodgers. I think Rodgers will end up being pulled if it goes into the season as the starter. Favre just needs to sweat it out. He'll be starting by seasons end (unless Aaron Rodgers comes out and blows up). It's like you guys said, if he goes to another team, he needs to learn a new offense. Camp is already under way. Sticky situation. |
