Would you guys rather he predicted we go 8-8?
This means nothing more than that the guys are buying into the new system, which is really the best we can hope for at this point.
Exactly, I love the confidence. Why shouldnt he be confident? If guys arent going into training camp with the idea that they could win a Super Bowl this year, than they shouldnt be showing up at all. No matter how realistic or unrealistc it is, in todays NFL anyone could win at anytime. I dont perticularly think we'll be that good (I'm in the 7-9 to 9-7 area), but thats what I can do as a fan...as a player, you better think you're going to win.

Didn't Kitna and Lions start off on a tear? Then reduced to a botched attempt of lighting a fart.

Then reduced to a botched attempt of lighting a fart.Remember how the two quality opponents the Lions played on the road last year in the first half: Eagles and Redskins, just totally massacred them. Like, Philly had 40 points in the first half. We dominated them in all phases of the game.
They played better in other games, but the Lions were a bad team all year through, they just beat the defending NFC champs in two close games, giving the illusion that they were actually playing good football.

That's kinda what I was trying to say. Part of me thinks he said what he said because he wasn't going to say, Yeah I think we're gonna be mildly good to decent this year, it's gonna take some time to learn Zorn's system. He didn't want to be seen as unoptimistic on t.v., which nearly all players don't, I don't think I've ever seen an interview where a guy sounded downcast about his team's fortunes before training camp even starts. And it is a good thing that he and hopefully the team are buying into Zorn's system.

I remember LDT predicted the Chargers would 10-6 a couple of years ago to snickers around the league; they ended up going 12-4.
Did yall notice one of the highlights from training camp shows Devin Thomas dropping an easy pass?
damn is it July 20th already?
A dropped pass!!?? I guess they better cut Thomas, he's obviously junk. ;)

It was funny to show that as a highlight, especially when Rod Woodson was putting him over as a nice addition to the offense. How about some video to support the statement?
But yeah, cut him and bring back Rod Gardner. We know he won't drop any passes.

buster,
the cardinals used to be in NFC east but not anymore. So in some ways you are correct but you may wanna re-think what you were saying.
Overall, if we go 8-8 Ill be extactic, I do think that once the O picks up on what we are trying to run and the WR's are able to get the timing correct then we will be better. I am worried about the D though, if someone gets hurt, we really don't have the depth to support a long term injury.
Lets just see what happens.

If we are one of the top 5 teams in the league, it will be because Jason Campbell is a top 5 Quarterback, and because Portis himself had himself some big games.
