Dirtbag59 06-26-2008, 11:37 PM GIVE PRISCO A BREAK YOU JERKS. It's obvious that about midway throught the list he got confused and mixed up the 50 best and the 50 most promising young players.
I mean Jason Peters over Samuals? How do you explain that.
Obviously the Winslow over Cooley and Witten is ridiculous as well. Champ Bailey's metrics prove he isn't a top 10 player anymore. And how many teams would take Sims over Samuals or Cooley. Putting Charles Woodson up there in the top 25 pretty much makes him sound like a Madden fan boy.
BeastsoftheNFCeast 06-27-2008, 02:07 AM I dont think he did that bad of a job, maybe a little mistake here and there, but all in all he did OK....tackles are hard for us fans to grade so I don't know how you all can say to put samuels in there when there was only one tackle on his list...also, he seemed to like the young guys with potential that havent succumb to injuries yet. And all you saying cooley over winslow, what's that about? Winslow is better than cooley hands down, his stats are better, his field play is better, the only thing worse is his personality (not to hate on cooley, he's still the man).
Daseal 06-27-2008, 09:54 AM I love Cooley -- but I think Winslow is a better TE. The guy can do it all. He did some dumb things earlier in his career, but he is a stud. So is Jason Peters. I think Cooley beats out Witten, but people have a mancrush on Witten.
Many of the players can have an argument made for them -- but I agree. The only two players we have that you could argue top 50 is Cooley and Samuels. These are opinion pieces. I constantly hear the media hates the Redskins -- go to any NFL board and you hear the same trash. If the Redskins bring some consistency back, we'll get credit. Remember when the media thought we were going to be good every year -- then we sucked? They're done being burned by us.
We have a head coach that is a quarterbacks coach that has never even called plays in the NFL much less been a head coach. I love Zorn, but I certainly can understand where questions come from.
sportscurmudgeon 07-06-2008, 08:31 PM Chris Cooley is an exceptionally talented and productive tight end. There is no debate on that issue.
There are other exceptionally talented and productive tight ends in the NFL - - to inlcude Jason Witten, Kellen Winslow II, Algae Crumpler, Vernon Davis and Antonio Gates. Is Cooley the best TE in the NFL as of now? No. Is he in the top five of the tight ends in the NFL as of now? Absolutely. Does that make him a mortal lock to be in the Top Fifty Players in the NFL? NO, it does not...
Is Chris Samuels the best OT in the NFC East? Maybe yes - - but also may be no. He's very good, but is he one of the 50 best players on the NFL? If you were designing a 50 man roster and had your pick from anywhere in the league, would Samuels be a guy you would write into your roster in India ink? Not on my list...
Now if you want to get me upset, how did he miss Ade Jimoh on this list. Or Rock Cartwright ...
djnemo65 07-06-2008, 08:55 PM We've got guys in the top 50 in Madden, which everyone knows is a more accurate list.

i agree with this post, but i'd omit vernon davis in place of somebody that's actually proved he can play, like gonzo.
skinsfaninok 07-07-2008, 01:18 AM How does ernie sims from the lions get in the top 50 but no cooley, samuels, or portis wow thats sad! I like being under the radar but geeze even London Fletcher is better than
Sims!!!!!!
sportscurmudgeon 07-07-2008, 01:53 PM That Guy:
No argument if you want to put Gonzales in there and take Vernon Davis out. The point I was trying to make is the while Cooley is a VERY good tight end, he's not the best tight end in the NFL and in fact he may not be better than sixth or seventh at that position.
So, if you are picking a 50 man roster of the best players in the league, it might be hard to put six or seven tight ends on the squad.
One could find a similar situation at quarterback. You are picking the best available squad and you will stock it with three QBs. OK, so you decide to put Brady and P. Manning on the squad. Now, who is #3?
Carson Palmer? Ben Roethlisberger? E. Manning? Donovan McNabb? Brett Favre? (I think he's coming back.) Patrick Ramsey (Just seeing if you are paying attention here...
If you could only pick one of them, you'd leave some pretty good QBs off the squad.
scafuri27 07-10-2008, 08:02 AM Wes Welker gets in over santana moss?...welker had a great year in the slot but so has brandon stokely in previous years, he never made any top 50 lists...im already sick of the patriots...
