Assasinated 40 years ago today. Imagine how different history might have been had he lived and won, and not Nixon.

i really believe the Nixon era was the beginning of very unethical behavior coming out of the white house. sure, JFK might have slept around, but that was peanuts compared to the Nixon administration

There were unethical Presidents FAR before Nixon.
Look up the Teapot Dome Scandal during Harding's term. Also, even way back in U.S. Grant's administration, his whole staff was pretty corrupt and he was ignorant of it all. Andrew Johnson was impeached way before Clinton. Lost or forgiven because of his assassination were plenty of shady happenings in the Kennedy administration.
Anytime anyone has that much power in any time in history, the temptation and opportunity to be corrupt exists.
Nixon was just not good at getting away with it. :D

What Nixon and them did was more dumb then it was that bad. He had the election wrapped up but they decided to break into dem. headquarters. JFK the man was great but he got the ball rolling with the social programs. I think of him everytime I'm sending all my money to Social Security.

Bobby Kennedy strikes me as the smartest of the three brothers that survived WW 2, but also the meanest and the least ethical. He wouldn't have had any hesitation about spying on his enemies, but he never would have gotten caught doing it.
