Updated: Landry Reports to OTAs, Springs Still a No-Show

I'm not so sure when the plane with Shawn pulls into DC, but I know his teammates and coaching staff want him there. It would be nice to see him show this year with all the changes to staff and such. And after hearing players and coach's speak on the issue they are putting it out there for him to be in DC, that he is missing new stuff. After thinking about it I hope as a good teammate he leaves Arizona or wherever he might be and just shows good faith and participates in these OTA's.

The fans want him here too!! I'm very bothered by this.. and disappointed in him. He needs to grow up and place a freakin phone call.

As long as they show up ready to rock for mandatory work, I'm not going to get upset over it.

Wasn't Daniels one of the players who complained a few years ago when Gibbs pretty much forced everyone to stick around for the off season stuff? I could be wrong, but it seems like a change of heart here.

Well, the circumstances are a little different. Daniels wanted to stay home and work out during their off time, but he didn't skip out on OTA's. Gibbs wanted guys there almost year round for off-season conditioning work, I can see where that would wear on guys. Plus right now we have some changes in the coaching staff and some new things are being put in under Blache.

I'm not disagreeing with or doubting Landry but this is like the 3rd or 4th time that he's said he's skipped something because of a "family issue". How many family issues does this guy have?

Yeah, "family issues," and the "flu" are both synonymous with BS. I wonder if they really believe we're all that dumb. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying family issues don't happen, nor am I mocking that fact, but come on Laron. If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat...

The NFL needs to do one of two things regarding OTA's. Either make them mandatory or do away with them all together.

Why? If a player thinks he doesen't need to attend OTA's but he still comes back ready to play why bother? If the player thinks they need the extra work then they show up. I really don't think Shawn Springs missing this is a big deal.

Its not a big deal that Springs hasnt shown up, its a big deal that he cant be reached by the team. He's a pro and should act like one.

That's what I'm saying. It's no big deal but everyone makes a big deal out of it. When a guy doesn't show up everyone goes nuts. The coaches, the media and even the players say things about other players when they don't show up. If it's not mandatory then why get all bent out of shape about it? So just make it mandatory or do away with it.
