Just looking for a little input from those of you who've lived in the Chicago area, Iowa, or both. My wife is applying to PA schools north of Chicago (actually closer to the Wisconsin border) and in Iowa City. I haven't visited either place yet and am curious to know what to expect. Any kind of input will be appreciated.

I forgot to mention Portland as well, though we lived in Oregon previously I'd appreciate anyone's two-cents.

if you're north of chicago close to the wis. border... i really liked milwaukee when i was there for a week. chicago proper sucks.

portland is a big contractor town, but its over run with bums, cause the local gov is almost as generous and san fransisco i guess...

Get the hell outta there... Go to charleston sc and sell knockoff sunglasses to tourists out of a van if you truly want to be happy

Man everybody says Chicago sucks. A friend grew up there and says he'll never move back. Evidently the campus is over an hour north of the city. My wife says it's nothing like Chicago and actually pretty nice (she's been there twice now).

What do mean about Portland and contractors?
