I never watched him play...but I don't think 4 sacks in 15 games is "good". However, he sounds like a good "chance player" if what you say is correct.
Does anyone have a link to his college days, or a compilation of his NFL plays?Only 9 starts though, almost a sack per two starts...as a rookie. That's pretty much the status quo for a pass rushing prospect. If he starts all 16, you'd like to see 6-7 sacks his rookie year.

It seems as if people are very high on James. I know he was a 1st round pick, but what makes people think he actually will be something special? (a genuine question)
Solid sack numbers in limited time, as GTripp mentioned. But more importantly, to play for Blache you need to be pretty strong at the point of attack to hold up against the run. He's pretty good at that. Very physical guy, plays a bit bigger than his listed weight of 265. If he can stay healthy and conditioned, he's got potential to be an every-down DE, as opposed to a pass-rushing specialist.

i gotta say, i don't know why people are so down on this. he makes 800k this year, 1 mill next year and the skins have ZERO risk or liability if they want to toss him because they think he blinks or some such.
and railing against brooks in the 6th is a REAL stretch. if he had gone in the 4th no one would have been surprised. as a prospect he's WAY above where frost was, and he has a good shot at becoming a top 5 or 10 punter in his career. he was a great value for his potential in the 6th round, and any team would have looked good taking him that late.

Watch the video Nightly News 5-28 at Redskins.com, and around the 2:30 mark Erasmus says (gulp), that he is a giants fan......

It was a complete tear both in 07 and 06.
According to the Vikings both surgeries were considered major, meaning ACL graft/replacement. Last year 2007-2008 season Erasmus James' comeback from major knee surgery lasted all of three or four plays. He tore his ACL again after just a few plays. According to USA Today. This guy is a long shot.
It sounds like this guy is another Courtney Brown from Penn State. But honestly who cares? When do 7th round draft picks ever pan out? I don't have a problem with this at all.
