Two of the greatest players in their respective careers have decided to call it a career

Annika Sorenstam, arguably the greatest player in LPGA history, will retire at the end of this season

And, in a bit of a shocker, Justine Henin the top ranked female tennis player in the world and three-time defending French Open champion has retired effective immediately

I know they don't get as much pub as the likes of Tiger woods or Roger Federer, but their remarkable careers and news of their retirements should not go unnoticed.

Annika has certainly had a Hall of Fame career and has been the female equivalent of Tiger to the LPGA......until Lorena hit the seen and she is now the best in the world in ladies golf. After just coming off her injury its nice to see her finish her career on her terms and playing at a high level once again, she just defeated the entire field to include Lorena here in Williamsburg (Kingsmill CC), Sunday on Mothers Day at the Michelob Classic then made the announcement just a few days later.

Nice to see when players of any sport either know when its time to go or you just have other interest in life and have the means to pursue those dreams.

Was surprised Henin hung it up so early, considering how young she is.

I guess it's always nice to go out on top though. :)
