Irena Sendler, who died yesterday aged 98, is credited with having saved the lives of some 2,500 Jewish children in the Warsaw ghetto during the Second World War.

What a great human being. I read another article about her today and awhile back she was asked about being a hero. She basically said that she didn't consider herself a hero at all; in fact she felt she was the opposite of a hero because she did not feel like she had done enough.
The world needs more people like Irena. RIP.

Wow that was a very moving story. People like her are so few and far between. She deserves more recognition for her efforts during WW2.
