Postage goes up again today

In case you haven't had enough of rising gas and food prices, the USPS has joined the game:

Everything is going up except one thing.......that paycheck.

That dollar bill is getting weaker by the second!

This was a big deal at my work. I do direct marketing (aka junk mail) so we had to adjust all sorts of computer programs to account for the change. One cent might not seem like a lot, but when you're mailing out 5million Bed, Bath, & Beyond coupons that extra penny, or fraction of a penny in our case because we're dealing in bulk, tends to add up rather quickly.

My wife wanted me to go out in the rain last night to get stamps because the increase went up today. I looked at her right in the eye and said, I'm not going out in the rain to save a measly 20 cents on a book of stamps...needless to say, the couch is awful lumpy to sleep on ;)

(Satire of course, my wife has never made me sleep on the couch...yet)

I wish they would bump the rate up 5 cents or so and keep it there for a while. I'm tired of looking for 1 cent stamps.
