ESPN - Redskins draft pick Davis a no-show at practice - NFL (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3380976)
Hopefully this isn't anything serious.

Fred Davis Update II
Jim Zorn met with Fred Davis shortly after Sunday's practice. The former USC tight end and second-round draft pick overslept on Sunday morning, which is why he missed the practice, team officials said.
Earlier, Zorn stressed that Davis and other young players need to be more responsible.
"That's a young guy--let's [remember to] set the alarm," Zorn said. "You can call for a wake-up call. Some of these guys are young enough--I am serious--to not even understand that.
"He thought maybe someone else was going to wake him up, but he will learn."

How dumb. 1st impressions are lasting ones there Mr. Davis.
On the flip side...I do not think they should show up to practice until they have a contract. But that's just me I guess.

I'm glad his situation was not something more serious. Not a good way to start out, the young man must learn to be more responsible. Let's hope it's just a one time thing that will never happen again.

Hey y'all might be a little hard on Mr. Davis it's not like he was up partying the night before and also we all have overslept before so to call some stupid or dumb is uncalled for IMO.

I little hard on him? His very first mini camp and the boy oversleeps and misses practice are you kidding, thats a HUGE NO NO.....you better hope that happens to some other ROOKIE, not the guy in the mirror!
Sounds like you have some inside on what he did last night, how would you know if he was out partying or not? Where you with him?
I think anyone ragging on him with some name calling is dead on and if he weren't to like it tuff shit it's well deserved. This is the NFL, hes not back at college as he is finding out now the hard way.

It's a mistake. The Vets will probably joke with him about it for a while. I'd laugh my ass off if I saw Davis wear a clock around his neck like Flava Flav for the rest of Training Camp. :laughing- And if any Redskins player sees this, I take credit for it. Give credit where credit is due!

We've all played football at sometime be it in the street, play ground peewee league, HS and or College and to over sleep at the PRO level, what i wouldn't give to have enough talent to even be considered to play at the PRO level, buy a F#@king alarm clock Fred Davis

A little hard? His entire job pretty much consisted of waking up for three consecutive days. That's all. I guess 2 out of 3 ain't too bad. If he misses a team flight/bus/train this year, I guess you'll be saying no to be too hard on the guy. Fair enough. A guy works for me and misses his third day of work because he's "too young" to set an alarm clock, there is no fourth day. I'd say he's lucky to be a 2nd round NFL draft pick and not an ordinary Joe.

I really hope Fred isn't following in the footsteps of fellow Trojan, Mike Williams. Please Fred, let this be it!
