EXoffender 05-01-2008, 10:06 AM I'm loving this draft more and more each day... Dirtbag59 05-01-2008, 02:55 PM -Don't miss an all-new Lost, Thursday night at 10p EST on ABC Starring Vinny Cerrato. Sorry I like Vinny it's just I had to take that shot Stuck in TX 05-01-2008, 05:39 PM sounds good! I am loving Rhinehardt more and more each day. Samuels and Jansen are young enough for us not to have drafted more OL, so I am not disapointed. We are set for the next few years. Honestly, we have the Bengals and Cardinals to thank. Think of what if would have been like if we had traded all those picks??!! Longtimefan 05-01-2008, 07:34 PM We took what we perceived to be the best talent we could get. Long term this should be the best draft we've had in years if our evaluation is any good. We clearly went talent over need. I think we're going to be big fans of this draft in 3 years. I agree, and while many continue to be dissapointed we were not able to land that ever elusive DE or DT, the overall results of this draft will eventually prove more than credible. Durant Brooks was a good pick despite the fact punters aren't usually drafted. He is great value for a 6th round pick. I remember Ray Guy was drafted #1 by the Raiders though they too had more needs at the time in other areas. A punter who can average 45yds. for ten yrs. or more is great value in any round. Colt Brennan was a complete steal also, a guy with all the mechanics to be great in the WCO. Given time and proper coaching, he will prove a lot of doubters wrong. Stuck in TX 05-01-2008, 08:54 PM I don't know if it's a typo, but if it's not it's interesting to note that on the Redskins roster page they have Alonzo Dotson listed as an offensive lineman Gotta be some intern's mistake. There is no way he is going to be an OL. He was just too good at OK. SC Skins Fan 05-01-2008, 11:48 PM Took some time this afternoon to speak on Doc Walker's show. SportsTalk 980 - Washington, DC (http://www.wtem.com/cc-common/podcast.html) Here are some highlights -Statistically, history shows you get more production/Pro Bowls out of 2nd round receivers than 1st round (don't know exactly where he got this from) Hmmm ... let's check it out in the past 10 drafts ... 1st Round: 1997 - No PB WR 1998 - Randy Moss 1999 - Torry Holt, David Boston (yes he made a PB) 2000 - No PB WR 2001 - Santana Moss, Reggie Wayne 2002 - Javon Walker 2003 - Andre Johnson 2004 - Larry Fitzgerald, Roy Williams 2005 - Braylon Edwards 2006 - no PB WR 2007 - no PB WR 2nd Round: 1997 - no PB WR 1998 - no PB WR 1999 - no PB WR 2000 - no PB WR 2001 - Chad Johnson, Chris Chambers 2002 - no PB WR 2003 - Anquan Boldin 2004 - no PB WR 2005 - no PB WR 2006 - no PB WR 2007 - no PB WR Well, looks like the 1st round comes out ahead 10-3 ... maybe he meant in the modern era ......... or maybe he was just making it up .... You know that 90% of stats are made up 50% of the time when 25% of the stats are only 75% true.... SC Skins Fan 05-02-2008, 09:04 AM quite compelling. You know that 90% of stats are made up 50% of the time when 25% of the stats are only 75% true.... You could have at least spent to the time to get a decent quotation. Like Twain's, "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics." I'm not trying to be compelling, just answering SmootSmack's question about "not sure where he got this" and the answer is he made it up because it actually isn't true. Doesn't mean Thomas and Kelly will fail, that was not the point I was making, just saying in the past ten years more Pro Bowls do not come out of the 2nd round as Cerrato said. I was curious, so I looked it up, before looking I thought he might be correct. Stuck in TX 05-02-2008, 09:32 AM You could have at least spent to the time to get a decent quotation. I was not saying your stats were wrong, just that anyone in the world, inlcuding Cerrato, could just make stats up off the tops of their heads and say its true and sound very intelligent. You on the other hand, went out and got stats on paper that proved Vinny wrong. My post was an attempt to sound intelligent, just like Cerrato did thus making my aforementioned point. |
