SeanTaylor21 04-28-2008, 09:38 PM FYI, Dominic Rhodes was released by the Raiders after the drafting of Darren McFadden.
He shoots! He scores!!!
Let the dominoes fall!!!
In the Skins' favor, of course :)
So, you want us to sign Dominic Rhodes?
SmootSmack 04-28-2008, 09:41 PM Broncos cut a bunch of people today.
Reggie Hayward may also be a cap casualty (Jaguars)
I don't know if they classify really as cap casualties, or just roster casualties
4mrusmc 04-28-2008, 09:44 PM Dixon went to the Cowboys, I believe.
And Daniels has been far more valuable to this team than too many people here realize. It's not all about sacks.
He does good in stopping the run. And he bats down alot of balls at the line scrimmage. He's serviceable and solid, but not great. I like to see him stay for depth.
mauiRedskinbarn 04-28-2008, 09:51 PM Daniels is all we got, we can't start wilson on opeining day, and we sure can't start the 7th rounder. Unless we trade for someone, or some miracle happens like Jason Taylor getting cut, I can't see anyone else starting at DE other than Carter and Daniels
SkinsFanSince91 04-28-2008, 10:05 PM So, you want us to sign Dominic Rhodes?
No, but I was slightly gloating. Rubbing it in that the day I create a thread to predict cuts and roster moves, it happens very evening.
Rhodes is good, but we are cool without him. Plus, he smokes herb and gets caught. Either way, thats not a good look.
JoeRedskin 04-28-2008, 11:01 PM Great, just great. First I have to explain to everyone when Dirtbag is being sarcastic.
Now I have to do the same for your posts? Sigh...
Sorry, oh great long suffering one. Your job is hard enough. I'll stop with the sarcasm and just go back to being simply brilliant - oops, there I go again.
JoeRedskin 04-28-2008, 11:10 PM There is no way we are going to cut anyone come june 1. On that day we will have 9.8 mil in salary cap space...that's as soon as Lloyd is designated a june 1st cut. I wish there were some way we could reverse that decision and not have him be a june 1st cut, but i dont think there is, we would still be 4.5 mil under the cap if he was a normal cut. ... We shot ourselves in the foot by designating Lloyd a June 1st cut, that's 5.3 mil we dont have on next years salary cap that we could have paid this year.
I was wondering the same thing. Schneed, Crazy is it possible to simply absorb the hit fully now? It seems to me that, since the savings wouldn't go into effect until June 1st and since Lloyd is actually off the roster, we should be able to simply notify the league that we will take the full hit now. I could see the league saying "no" if it were after the 1st as the bookkeeping would have already been in effect. But in this case, by redesignating it as a pre-June 1 cut, the benefit to both the team and player is unchanged.
Also, even if we were able to do so, would we still have enough cap room for the rookies?
Anybody know what type of deals the picks in the Skins slots got last year?
BrunellMVP? 04-28-2008, 11:25 PM 91, it's not a good idea to challenge the cap guys when it comes to anything that deals with the salary cap. They're right about 97% of the time.
I was about the type the same thing, except substitute 99.9% in for 97%, but I think what he was saying is that given our draft, we now have some players that were vital before that now are expendable- frost for instance (once the kid dominates him...), likely a WR as well...
Schneed10 04-28-2008, 11:33 PM No, but I was slightly gloating. Rubbing it in that the day I create a thread to predict cuts and roster moves, it happens very evening.

Well I think there has been further misunderstanding. Sure players will be cut after the draft. And still more leading up to June 1. But any players of consequence? Anybody that could do anything more for us than add a training camp body?
I assumed that if you started a thread about it, you'd want to know if we could acquire anybody to help us. I'd say no.
When GTripp and I said nobody gets cut, we meant the figurative nobody. Nobody gets cut from teams around this time of year anymore, unless they're a nobody.

No you can't go back on it. Once you call him a post June 1 cut, you're committed to it.
But never fear, I do think the Skins will still make good use of that cap space. First, the Post recently ran a blurb saying they further guaranteed the 2008 and 2009 base salaries for Clinton Portis, which will have some sort of impact on the cap. Aside from that, I'd bet a lot of money that the Skins will extend a young player or two now this season in order to make use of that excess space, thereby allocating some of that money this year.
2nd round picks typically make about 1.5 million per season. Ballpark.
