Cooley and Moss are going nowhere.
How much value do you think Thrash, Mix and Mathis have?
Why would anyone want to trade for them? Really?

I think ARE could be packaged. I dont think it will be a good idea, but other than that passing gimmicky ability, Devin Thomas makes his role kinda futile. In thomas you have alot of the elusiveness on Special Teams and on the flanks that ARE has. But ARE is most likely not going anywhere. I think either Jansen or Samuels could be packaged as well. Heyer deserves a fighting shot at starting at either tackle spot this year.

I like Cooley as much as anyone but I have not noticed this at all.
He started in three games in last year's preseason as an OT. His side stayed pretty well blocked. It was the other side's backups that scared me.

Cooley played tackle in the preseason?? Say what?

This thread is insane. Nobody is going to be traded. Somebody might get released after training camp. Drafting talented players just increases the competition at training camp and in the long run the team will be better because of it. If a player gets released, it because he couldn't cut it. The players that produce will be retained. I'm all for competition.

So the draft is over less than 24 hours and we're talkin' trades already? How about we let these guys (old and new) have at least a minicamp in the new offense before we have them shipped out?
Is it too early to start talking about next year's draft? Mods please start the 09' draft thread...

After an intriguing Day 1 of the draft that saw our Burgandy and Gold load up on talent for the west coast offense questions have already emerged about possible trades. Seems to be a consensus that Thrash, Mix and Mathis are out of the offense and possibly on the trading block. Maybe we keep one or two of these guys for special teams. But the real intrigue is whether Moss, ARE, or Cooley could be traded.
I highly doubt that Cooley is going anywhere. Many of you have pointed out a two TE set could be implemented, which would give defenses a lot of trouble between these two phenoms. But ARE and Moss are a different story. Already I've heard rumblings about ARE, but I think it could be Moss instead. Moss has been more injury prone. He has shown sometimes bewilderingly poor hands (more on this later). But most of all he has displayed the most WR-like character, if you will, in terms of moodiness and attitude. Throughout last season's injuries and sub-par performances Moss seemed to have a "what can you do" attitude. And he's been the unquestioned #1 WR since arriving in Washington, making him the most likely to get ruffled by serious competition. And then there is the playoff loss to Seattle. With our current HC standing on the sidelines (the other side) Moss dropped several critical passes.
But despite these criticisms, Moss likely holds greater trade value than ARE because of the few great seasons he's had, and that could make trading him (if a trade is being considered) more attractive. We have at least a few serious needs to address and not enough good picks to suffice. Moss may give us the DE, DT or offensive lineman that will save us from another year of trouble in the trenches.
If your saying that Moss has a "so what" type of attitude I think your way off. He was very upset last year with the way he performed in a couple of games and I see him as a player that wants to make plays and lead this team. The O line lost the game in Seattle not Moss and I can only remember that one play where he failed to go after the ball and allowed the guy to int. and get a good return.

Dude.... you cant be serious, that would probably be one of the worst moves of all time for our franchise

the only person that I would trade is ARE. He is vastly overpaid of rhis production the last two years, but first I would ask him to take a drastic pay cut. If he didn't, then I would trade or release him.
If he can be traded to a WR hungry teams for a DE or LB, then I'd consider that a good deal.
As for Jansen, Samuels, and Moss, whoever said they needed to be traded needs to have their "fan card" suspended. Out of all of the plays that were listed ARE has been here the shortest amount of time, and he hasn't captured thge heasrts of skins fans by his play. The aforementioned players have, and deservew to stay while we make this next run.
