Don't we still hold the rights to Bruce Smith? If so, I say we trade those rights to someone for a late 1st or early 2nd. I wouldn't give anything more than a 5th rounder for Jason and anyone who gives up more than a 4th is on some seriously good crack.

Trade for J. Taylor? Not Interested
From Jason Reid:

J La is headed to the Comcast SportsNet studio to appear as a guest on Washington Post Live, so he asked me to put the word out on the Redskins rebuffing Miami's overtures to trade defensive end Jason Taylor, according to league sources.

Miami is seeking draft picks in exchange for the NFL's 2006 defensive player of the year, but the Redskins, who are actively trying to trade out of the 21st pick in the two-day draft that starts tomorrow, are not interested in Taylor, 33. Although Taylor, an 11-year veteran, had a typically productive performance in 2007 (56 tackles, 11 sacks, four forced fumbles and one interception), the Redskins do not see him as a good long-term fit with what they are trying to accomplish, sources said, and their stance is not expected to change.

At this point in his career Taylor is not worth a first round draft pick. Miami is asking too much but someone might bite.

If he doesn't move does Miami release him, or was it just a play to get some picks and move some salary?

I bet both parties would like this relationship to end as soon as possible. Especially the Tuna.

I would offer a 2009 4th round pick, take it or leave it.

Jason Taylor might perform his sack dance with the Miami Dolphins this season after all.

The defensive end and star of "Dancing With the Stars" was the subject of trade speculation throughout the weekend. But when the NFL draft ended Sunday, general manager Jeff Ireland denied the Dolphins were eager to part with Taylor.

"We want the guy back," Ireland said.

Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said his team pursued a deal, but the Dolphins took Taylor off the trading block.
