I doubt Betts is going anywhere. Rock as the primary backup?? Please.

He played good 2 years ago in that one game against the Rams, ran for like 100 yards when Betts was out.

Meanwhile Betts filled in and ran for over 1000 yards in just 7 starts in 2006.

I trust him a heck of a lot more.

I agree with you, and I love Betts, but.... I remember Betts running through some awful big holes during those 7 starts in 2006. I think my old ass could have run for 700 yards (if I could have got back up after being tackled)!

He has always run well when asked to step in for an injured player but that has come just a few times in his career.

I trust him a heck of a lot more.Betts ran really well in 2006, but that seems to have been an aberration from the rest of his career. I'm all for giving him enough carries to get him back on track in 2008, but only in 2006 and 2003 was he a valuable ball carrier for us.

Rock on the other hand, has been excellent in very limited time. As the primary backup, that time would remain limited.

I can understand the desire to keep Betts on the roster so if Portis goes down, Rock doesn't have to carry the load, but remember that prior to 2006, this team had enough faith in Ladell Betts to deal two mid round picks for TJ Duckett.

Obviously Betts>Duckett, but he really has to show that 2006 wasn't a fluke this year, or I doubt he will be back in 2009.

Betts was also banged up at the time the deal was made for Duckett which was probably a big factor in that deal going down.

Outside of that one big game in 2005 for Rock his numbers are really nothing special.
