Okay, I've been contemplating a big career change, but I'm in a quandry. Should I become an athlete or a musician?

Seriously, if you had the skills to do both, but could only chose one and be very good at it, which one would you be?

If an athlete, which sport? If a musician, what type and/or what instrument?

Athlete

Baseball - chance to play longer, less injury risk than football and basketball :)

The question is vague and requires more input.

What sport?
Are you good at it?
Are you past your prime?

What instrument?
Are you good at it?
Who do you know that can help you take off?

Essentially, which one offers the most promise?

Or...

Musician - Some kind of drum in the Redskins Marching Band. :)

Angryssg, just flow with the question....

If you had amazing talent at both, what would you do and why? Any sport and you can only choose one.

Musician, because you can do it much longer. Both however, take a toll on your body. If you can stay away from the sex and drugs, the musician is the obvious choice. In all honesty I was more of an athlete though. Translation: my life isn't going to amount to shit in either industry.

Athlete and be a pro golfer. I know a heavily debated topic on if golfers
or race car drivers are athletes. To be a pro, golf has to be way to go.

You play golf 4 times a week, schmooze with some corporate types, and
potential for long career.

Athlete, and I would play in the NBA, as one of the few Muslims in the NBA.

Musician. More specifically, a pianist.

I took 6 months of lessons and soon realized I'm only cut out to be a singer.

Athlete. Don't be pussies about injuries, people. Come on now.

Athletics is a much healthier lifestyle. You're always in shape, you can eat nearly as much as you want and as long as you're working out, you won't gain weight.

I'd go for QB in the NFL. There's nothing that any musician can do, nothing, that's more bad ass than standing in the pocket and unleashing a bomb without flinching as an oncoming blitzer bears down on you. Then they hit you and knock you to the ground, and you don't even care, you just move to the side so you can see if your boy caught the ball. It's the ultimate unspoken toughness in all of sports.

You will have creaky knees when you're older, but it's better than dying of lung cancer. And like I said, who cares about pain. Don't be pansies.
