ChickenMonkey 03-29-2008, 01:08 PM Jordy Nelson would be a steal for us, only in the third round....
WE need to adress the De position 1st round DE Phllip Merling or CB Aquib Talib
2nd Round Saftey Josh Barrett or Wr Manningham
3rd Round WR Jordy Nelson or Jason Jones DE
Compensatory 3rd CB Zach Bowman
pass rush,safety wr,cb........ lb 5th / og 6th/ og-t 7th/ dt 7th
30gut 03-29-2008, 02:28 PM What do you all think? Too early for Jordy in the 2nd round? Right on time. maybe? Or do we hit the pipe, play madden, and then draft a WR in the first?
Thoughts?
i think Jordy Nelson is going to be a good receiver, but a bit of a reach in the second round.
if we pick a receiver in the second round it should be: Malcolm Kelly, Early Doucet or Andre Caldwell alot of draft experts have them going in the second round
I would much rather wait until the 3rd round to get Nelson /Will Franklin.
Depending on who we take in the first: Harvey/Talib/Albert
i would like to see us take: DB-/Reggie Smith/Tracey Porter/
DE-Calias Campbell
RB-Chris Johnson
(I know we already have an all-pro caliber back in Portis and a quality back-up in Betts, but i think if Chris Johnson is there in the second how could we pass?)
opinions?

We don't need to waste our picks on ANY kind of running backs.. We have plenty, we already have Portis, Betts, and Rock Cartwright.. Also not to mention Marcus Mason - I believe he is better than Rock.. So we def don't need any extra RBs, unless they are undrafted free agents.. I wld be fine with it..
Stuck in TX 03-29-2008, 08:05 PM WR is a critical need.
*cough* Matt Millen *cough*
SBXVII 03-29-2008, 08:07 PM Did something happen to Santana or ARE that I'm not aware of?
Oh...I don't know...maybe....constant groin pull. almost what every year? or Hammie? I love Santana but he has his injuries.
I do like Mix though. I'm betting he puts a lot of this to rest for us. Everyone is on the other side of the fence simply because he got cut from the Giants but I'm betting he's better then most of us think. He was supposed to replace one of their best WR but got cut to make room for another player in another position. I pray he teaches them a lesson come game 1.
This doesn't mean I'm not for a bigger WR though or a proven (CJ) WR.
SkinsFanSince91 03-31-2008, 12:06 PM I think that going to Jordy will not be a stretch in the 2nd. Considering that there WILL be a run at receivers from the end of the 1st to the middle of the 2nd round.
If we don't address that position of WR early we may be left up sh*t's creek without a paddle when it comes to getting quality talent at WR in the first few rounds of the draft.
Think about it. Getting a qulaity Wr has to be a priority because we have a QB that needs better weapons. By better I essetially mean drafting a taller WR, with good intangibles, goo dupside, and good collegiate production that will be an investment into Jason Campbell. We can not "hope" to have someone falls to us or find a diamond in the rough.
Every other franchise drafts a WR when they get a franchise QB, with the exception the Eagles and see how there offense is without one. When they have TO, they were a force. We need to invest in JC and one of the best ways to do that is to get GOOD talent early at the WR position, lest we end up stalling in the redzone, faltering without quality depth, and having the smurfs for one more term.
PS
I like MIX, but we can't let our draft strategy rest on a player that is unproven just yet.
SmootSmack 03-31-2008, 01:37 PM I like MIX, but we can't let our draft strategy rest on a player that is unproven just yet.
Isn't that what the draft is all about anyway?
SBXVII 03-31-2008, 02:47 PM I hate to say it but Mix has shown more than anyone coming out of the draft. He played Pre-season with the Giants and supposedly looked good. He has been a Special Teamer with us and has been awsome. I'll take Mix over anyone in the draft right now, but it would be nice to get another tall WR that may be able to contribute or if nothing else then to grow with JC.
SkinsFanSince91 04-01-2008, 12:59 PM This is all fine speculation, but I seriously doubt if anyone on here has ever seen this 6'5" 235 lbs WR ever run a route or catch a pass, for that matter. The answer is no!
The only thing we have seen is Mix makes special teams tackles. Lets wait, give him some competition in camp via the draft (***Insert Shameless Jordy Nelson plug here ***), and then see who breaks out and develops into a threat for our passing game on day one.
And, now that we have an extra 3rd round choice at #96 overall, we can afford to take him in the bottom of the 2nd round.
Things are lookin up for us Skins' fans!
SkinsFanSince91 04-01-2008, 04:49 PM To top it off, your favorite ESPN football pundit Todd McShay has us taking Philip Merling in the 1st round and Jordy Nelson in the 2nd!!!
So I guess I am not crazy after all.
